I'm looking for some ideas on making a role play in space, on ships, other planets, etc. but I can't find a actual storyline, or very active people for that matter, so hoping to get some interest, or ideas if you only want to help out.

I'm down, space role play is pretty massively underdone here.

Yeah it is, I'm so glad you saw this, I pretty much gave up on it, cool, so you know why people that might join? Or have any ideas, the faster we get more people and a storyline the faster we can start. :)

I'm kinda hit and miss as far as having people I know to join. I can at least tell the group I'm doing a supernatural story with and a DC story with that this is floating around. I can't really promise much there.

You can always do one on one I'm very good at that, atleast that's what I'm told.

As for ideas you're the one who started it. So it's kind of up to you. With space you at least have to kind of define if you're looking for "hard sci fi" or "soft sci fi" . The definitions are a bit fluid depending on who you ask but it ultimately boils down to how realistic things are. Star Wars or Marvel's Gaurdians of the Galaxy are definitely on the soft end of sci fi both essentially being fantasy done in space. Star wars for example is literally about a young man who is trained by a wizard to storm a castle defeat the black knight and rescue a princess. You could drop that story in Lord of the Rings without any major changes.

I'm trying to think of a good example of hard sci-fi and failing fantastically at the moment.

Me too, Iv never done a space role play, so I really don't know how it's like. I had a idea of two different planets against each other or something, and it's very futuristic with technology and etc, but I quickly dropped that one, as i guess it doesn't really define sci fi.

That would work just fine actually and it's definitely sci-fi. The first question really is how rooted in reality do you feel like being?

Well I definitely don't want anything OP, or practically invincible, but other then that anything is welcome, different races, armor, weapons, etc. Anything is usually open to me.

OP is really only an issue if we're playing "against" each other but that's fine by me. I like alternate races and all that sort of things. So lets go with soft sci-fi. Something kinda like Star Wars jsut without the thirty plus years of baggage that comes with it. If you say there is a planet filled with dinosaurs there's a planet filled with dinosaurs and that's all there is to it. I don't want to argue about how we know that this is the planet with the Ewoks. :D

Sorry I do a lot of game planning and helping other people game plan so I end up seeing lot of bizzarre arguments over what can and can't go where and why and sometimes it's headache inducing.

Haha, alright, although my person has a type of armor from a game, so hope you don't mind :D lol, well then I guess we can start to develop a storyline. :)

I highly doubt you're going to invent any armor that bothers me in the least. Or borrow from any game. I'm fairly certain that'll be just fine.

So did you have anything in mind? Space pirates, a war, just people going around having fun? I'll admit I do a lot more fantasy than sci-fi. Give me orcs and demons and I can give you aplt instantly. Give me space and I'm a little less comfy. It's still fun just I'm not an all knowing guru anymore.

By the by, cute AV before I forget.

A war I suppose, unless you have something better in mind, I'm a little fantasy too, so if you want to add orcs or something fine by me.

I actually kinda like space pirates. One of my favorite space operas is an anime called Outlaw Star. Which if you haven't seen is basically star wars without Jedi. The Empire is more or less "goodish" (kinda like in Firefly/Serenity where if you pay attention it's clear that Mal and the other separatists were far from blameless in the confrontation and the Empire really did want to help and spread civiilization. They were extremely heavy handed about it but when you visit worlds they control they aren't Nazi regimes or anything.

Anyway the Rebels are primarily pirates who do piratey things and then you have the Bounty Hunters. It gives you the perfect excuse to have as many races as you want and one the same crew. And if we go with pirates you've got the official law always kinda after you depending on how big a deal you are and the bounty hunters as well.

Keeping an eye on this. If things captivate my interest more i'll jump on it.

No problem! Space pirates it is!

Yippee! Space pirates rock. I guess I can set up a basics for it, depends on how much detail you want to deal with or just play it by ear. If we just play it by ear we can set up the OOC now.

I'll set up the OOC, and there we can create our character bios! I guess we could play it ear by ear but if you have any ideas post them please!

Of course. I'm thinking pretty loosely what I stated above.

The Alliance (placeholder name) basically represents the major power locally, there are other powers but traveling that far is difficult. Within their territory you have pirates who are quasi-organized. (Think Pirates of the Caribbean movies. They clearly weren't all friends by any means but they do have various levels of working relationships and arrangements that aren't casually broken.) And the bounty hunters who aren't technically on anybody's side but lean towards the Alliance simply because the government has more money than God and can pour it over your head.

Ideally we should all start together as part of if not a single grew certainly of as single fleet save maybe one person (depending on how many we get) who can be an outsider. And we gallavant around having fun and avoiding trouble. That way whenever we overcome and obstacle there is something logically looming to get us.

I really like it, so wait are you suggesting were all one crew? And I can't send the link, so I guess you find it, or start it?

Either that or what my RP groups often refer to as the Bar at World's End. And it just means that the reason why Luke Skywalker ran in to Han Solo is because everybody in the galaxy drinks at the same bar at the same time for the sake of not having to contrive reasons why we all run into each other. Otherwise we can spend a lot of time figuring that out. It really makes no difference to me if we know each other already or if we meet each other at a bar and are forced together. Actually lets go with the second.

We're all at the bar and Alliance soldiers/cops whatever bust in and everybody escapes together because nobody really knows who they are after and you don't exactly ask questions when people with guns or lasers or whatever the weapon of choice for this world is comes around.

link is here.

It's really simple, you just copy the url from the page, click that globe with the chain links on it, paste and hit okay! :D
