They make less expensive cars. And, as with any new tech, the price is only going to come down, down. The important thing is that the platform is so solid.

Some people have called Tesla a battery company, and that's fine with me. We've needed someone to lead in these areas for such a long time.

I agree with that statement. There's a quality to this company though that seems to be more about research and development than production.

I haven't bought a car since 2005. Why are you griping about electrics AND internal combustion engines. What's your plan for personal motorized transport?

I have read that their house batteries are impressive, but wildly overpriced compared to what you can do with contemporary storage tech. Though from talking with you previously, I know you would understand this much better than I do.

I have an engineer nephew who works for Ford in power plant R&D. He says they buy Teslas and tear them apart to reverse engineer and still can't figure out how they get the mileage out of them that they do. He's clearly embarrassed to admit this, so I think he's legit.

I'm probably just naive, but there's something about Musk that makes me feel he's about more than just monetizing technology.

I'm simply taking issue with your suggestion that the cost of a $127,000 Tesla is going to come down significantly based on a maturing technology. Even if it did, my contrary suggestion is that, based on my experience with the automotive market, that price will once again rebound to the $127,000 level quite quickly.

My point was nothing more or less.

Till then 124k is just too much for a family sedan....I'll have to stick with the Honda where I won't care if kids smear boogers, shit themselves, projectile vomit, spill milk I don't find out about until it's 90F and humid etc etc.

I'm pretty sure if I had $120K free to spend on a car, I wouldn't. There is a lot about this car that I think can be downstreamed to the rest of the auto world. And, if someone wants to give me one of these cars to enjoy, I say "thank you."

Well, I like to road trip......if I can't drive for 10-12 hrs kinda fucks up the program.

Mine is a 98....got a new clutch, fluids, timing belt/water pump, accessory belts and ready for another 700k beat down. I'ma drive the wheels off that bitch and give it to the Chirrins for a first shit box car, they can enjoy their own boggers and sour milk when they are teens. :D
