I was on AM because my husband was in a coma for a number of years before he passed away. It's a difficult situation that most people would never understand. I was seeking people to share with that might also be in the same sort of situation that I was in - a sexless marriage. There were some real sleeze bags - as there is on this site as well - but there were also some very kind people who found themselves in positions that were very difficult. In many ways, they were trying to make the best of it.
Did I want to "cheat"? Of course not. Did I ever think I would find myself in the position I was in? Never. Did I feel guilty? Often. I also felt very alone.
There are all sorts of people on sites, all with their own experiences. A lot of times people are seeking others to share with, sometimes just with conversations. Sometimes with something more.

Years ago I helped a friend remove their web presence from all sorts of cheating sites. It was a weird situation too. Ashley Madison seemed to have security issues, even back then.

I found that overwriting was the best way to deal with most of those sites.
Don't just go delete yourself, go in and change your information.
If it's something like Cam4u, you have to wait for all 35 or whatever international sites to pick up the changes, it takes about 3-4 weeks.

Then you can delete yourself and if it turns out you are still there somewhere like AM, at least the info is wrong..
Same goes for credit card numbers, unless you are currently being billed, they don't tend to check your new number.

I believe I read there is a lawsuit against AM claiming this. Poor men. Thinking they were having a torrid affair with some beautiful sexpot.
