Got my Hatch yesterday. The 'Hot' is a little hotter than last years, but just as tasty. Thank God I didn't go for the 'Extra Hot.' Down here it was $15 for 1.1 bushels including roasting. The brand I got was from Young Guns produce wholesalers.

I'll let you know when the Chimayo red comes in.

A bushel? What do you do with a bushel.

Fuck, I need a trip to the SW to pick up some peppers.

I like peppers.

I also just wanted to say hi to Petey and Ish.

It's expensive in the stores, here.

That fucking sucks.

Not in a good way, either!

I used to have it shipped in when I was living in FL. In the long run it would have been cheaper to buy a round trip and have checked luggage. <shrug>

Thank you for the pepper update. My handful of plants started slow but seem to be making up for lost time. I will get me a bushel of Hatch next time I am in Colorado.

my chocolate habs and carolina scorps are digging the drought
but drinking gulp gulp water like sailors on leave...
letting a tabasco plant run wild and...
they're right now the tastiest devils in the bunch...

swapped a bunch of seeds this year
with a pal,
and have now
this plump little yellow bastard growing
that i'm too lazy to properly identify
that already (not quite ripe)
tears my ass right out...

makes the habs seem like bench players...
love my little patch of hellfire.

Maybe, it's 56°F outside , now.

*chuckle* It's roasted, you have to freeze it. Or you can fly the crop back home and roast it yourself (which is a family affair. or at least with good friends).

And then you freeze it. :)

Ah, just put it next to the fish and game and berries in the freezer. That's easy.

Hot

All this talk about peppers is making me sweat. I miss Texas and all the great spicy food. I'll be back in November so watch out!

How do you put up a bushel?

I use 1/2 a bushel per batch. The peppers are roasted, char scraped off, and stems removed. The first half of the bushel is combined with half of the hot peppers that I grow (Habanero, Jalapeno, Thai hot, and some other hot fuckers). Feel the love.

The remaining peppers get vacuum sealed and frozen.
