Does anyone know how to do this? I keep trying different things, but nothing works.

I want the touchpad on my laptop to not work at all. I use a mouse.

Why would you need to?
I use a mouse too, and I have never found the touchpad gets in the way or anything....

disable the device, but I am with warrior queen on this one. How is it getting in your way?

my laptop has a button to turn off the touch pad right next to the power button.

When I type, my hand brushes it sometimes. Sometimes it just moves the pointer, but other times it will zoom in and wonky stuff like that.

Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > HID-compliant touch screen > Disable...

...a pop-up screen will then ask you to confirm by clicking Yes.

Repeat those steps and Enable if you want to turn the touchscreen back on.

How is your computer setup?

try

control panel>>device manager>>mice and other pointing devices

10 is working better than 8.0 or 8.1. Solved a number of the issues. But, it did download an adware malware. Took a couple of days to remove it finally.

Nothing seems to work. I've tried all these fixes and it still hasn't disabled it. :(

I had to have a friend come over and help me do this. You have to go into the bios and disable the touchpad there. It's apparently the only way to do it.

Double tap the touchpad, like you could do in every other version of Windows
