One of my early friends, from the Boy Scouts, he was THAT early, was a twit.

He was a very nice person who would do anything for anybody, help anyone but he was just so slooow...

It would take him a quarter of an hour to make a cup of instant coffee even if the kettle was already boiling.

Most people declined his help because it was quicker to do it yourself.

His girlfriend first asked him out because she couldn't wait for him to make the first move. Her previous boyfriend had been a control freak and she had dumped him. My slow friend seemed an ideal contrast. He would never attempt to control her, he was polite, pleasant and attentive even if he might take things so slowly. He had a good job where his employers appreciated and used his precise way of working and his attention to detail.

After a few weeks his girlfriend decided he was her ideal partner. He loved her unconditionally and would do anything for her - slowly and carefully. After a year they married and still live happily. She runs him and their household. He was great with their children and grandchildren who soon learned that 'Dad' or 'Grandad' had ample time for them, but if they wanted something done, doing it by themselves was quicker.

He was and is a twit. But he is the nicest person I know and his wife is still pleased that she grabbed him.

I forget to mention - he was built and looked like a Greek God.
