Road tripping tonight or tomorrow...it's a six hour drive and I want new music! My preferred genre is alternative rock. I love acoustic music and covers. I find it very interesting the way one band will interpret another bands music. I am open to other genres as well...anyone have any favorites?

I have some of those already but will check out the others! Thank you. And yes upbeat music that won't cause me to fall asleep and crash is a very good idea

Lately, I've been on an alt-j kick, not the most obscure or up to date, I know, but I like it for driving.

Cool, let me know if you like any of them and I'll try to do some closer style matches, just throwing things at you :D

Have fun!

I don't know if it's your jam, but I'm currently rocking out to Why Make Sense?, the latest album from Hot Chip. It's pretty fucking great.

Also, I just discovered The Mountain Goats.

This will be lost on you but the best of any music is always a wise choice. Regardless of the music go for the gusto.

Throw on some Drivin' n Cryin', let the top down and let it roll baby, roll.

I will most definitely check that out! I am so excited I live when people share their tastes it leads me to so many new songs I may have never known existed

Thanks recidiva ! My plans changed so I will have a lot more time to gather music and make play lists tonight I am leaving tomorrow after work now. I will let you know which ones I like so that if you are inclined you can share more

Sounds interesting...can't wait to have a listen!

I have a very wide variety of music so I rely heavily on playlists. I used to dj for an adult website via the SAM broadcaster it was so much fun. Needless to say when your audience is all over the world your collection of music become wide and varied

Lol thanks for the suggestion!

Did you quit your job too?

I am working now ms ann...heading to a jobsite. Half day tomorrow. I was supposed to go to my mother's yesterday but due to last minute jobs that came in I had to reschedule and it turned out okay because she was able to reschedule her dt appointment for Monday so I will still be able to be there with her for that

PS, this is vbulletin site, how come we don't have a youtube button?

I like the Mountain Goats!!! Hot Chip is REALLY different. The second song that came on had some kind of grating noise that made me want to wear ear plugs. The first, Why Make Sense was good though.

The Wailin Jennys is now one of my top ten (for now, that changes so often) Most of these I already had, I love female vocalists cuz I love to sing when I drive...yes, I am one of THOSE people. Someone reminded me of some music that I used to really like, and I downloaded Aerosmith Honkin on Bobo lol. There are a couple awesome tracks on there.

That's one of my favorites because of the a capella harmony. Ulaven and I sing wherever we go together in the car.

The harmony is amazing... gonna have to find a guy who can sing I guess.

Been playing Life is Strange and there's a ton of great bittersweet, melancholy folk and alt-rock on its soundtrack. A playlist I'm listening to that's half songs from the game and half songs inspired by them:

Syd Matters - To All of You
Alt-J - Something Good
Angus & Julia Stone - Santa Monica Dream
Jose Gonzales - Crosses
Amanda Palmer - In My Mind
George Timothy - Seeker of the Sight
Message to Bears - Mountains
Mud Flow - The Sense of Me
Sparklehorse - Piano Fire
Mogwai - Kids Will Be Skeletons
Syd Matters - Obstacles
King Dude & Chelsea Wolfe - Be Free
Kaki King - No True Masterpiece Will Ever Be Complete
Youth - Daughter
Angus & Julia Stone - Devil's Tears
Bright Eyes - Poison Oak
King Dude - Lucifer's the Light of the World
Woodkid - Iron
Jose Gonzalez - Far Away
Zero 7 - Home
Bon Iver - Calgary
Syd Matters - End & Start Again

All the tracks can be found on YouTube (and converted to mp3 if you know how to do that).
