waiting for the canner to build pressure.

It's only the middle of the night if you go to work when the sun rises.

I love tomatoes, some woman gave me pink ladies. I'm going to try them tomorrow.

I love tomatoes in season. I loathe the hot house kind in winter, and refuse to buy them.

tomato and onion sandwiches with just a touch of vidalia onion dressing...yum!

I've always loved tomatoes and I'll even tolerate the store bought ones but they're just not even tomatoes. I haven't put in the effort to grow my own tomatoes in probably a decade I started to last year and knew I was going to be out of town and they would die so I dug the plants up and gave them to a friend with a green thumb.

Yesterday there was a tomato that's been sitting on my counter long enough that I picked it up to see if it was starting to rot. It wasn't that I'd never seen this before it was sprouting tomato plants from the inside out. I cut the little plants out and tried planting them I don't know if they're going to take or not. I doubt the plants will be that good because this was your basic store bought tomato.

Recently, during a tremendous downpour the mountainside decided that it would re-route a ravine and it put a bunch of top soil on my back patio. In cleaning it up I had to put it somewhere so I ended up making a garden bed that I might actually start growing things in.

I've been juicing lately...not steroids, fruits and vegetables... I didn't want to attract ants so I threw out the fruit pulp at the vegetable pulp I've been composting.

Our supper the past few nights has consisted of corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes and sliced peaches, all grown about twenty-five miles from my door.

Summertime meals out of the garden are the best ever.

I have never seen plants sprout from tomatoes either. It will be interesting to know how that turns out.

This would be a great thread for KarenKraft to make an encore.

We had a store-bought tomato start to sprout a couple months ago. Had never seen it before. We just pitched it instead of eating it.

I start tomorrow. Near as I can figure I have close to 80lbs of Peaches to go through. I figure I can process 20lbs a day without getting into a stress zone. (And yes, they're really sweet and juicy this year.)

When my vacation gets here, I plan on a run to the orchards for a bushel or so to can and make preserves. And maybe some apples for some apple butter and applesauce. I'm down to 5 pints of applesauce and that makes me a littl antsy.

Went through 40lbs today. Not too bad, took 3 1/2 hours.
