A very curious news happened in New York in 1906 that a thief steals a purse from a woman sitting in a bench and runs away ,the woman leaves seat and gathering up their skirts chase the man yelling " STOP THIEF !" several blocks and when the thief dashed into the subway station,she followed and finally caught him just at the last moment as the train was already in the station and the thief was entering on the car ,then she managed to hold him prisoner with her FOR HALF AN HOUR until the police arrived.
In this news worthy of a comical silent movie published in New york on july 13 of 1907 That Three girls employed in a department store saw a man pick up four women's shirtwaist from a counter of the second floor of the store and then sprang into a descending elevator ,the girls quickly way down the stairs and when the male thief was just darting out the door of the store as the young women reached the bottom of the stairs,and they sped after him,the girls with their skirts gathered up in their hands chase him in close pursuit despite the hindrance of their clothing and shouted shrilly for the man to stop.Crowds turned to watch the pursuit ,but none tried to stop the man,though the desperate girls shrieked loudly " STOP THIEF !" ,a policeman heard them and he took up the chase,but is a fat policeman and was soon winded. As his pace grew slower and slower,the determined young women passed him and at last began to gain on the man thief.The girls close enought to him and finally reached the thief and the girls quickly close up to him and grab him,then the thief made one desperate effort to break the women's hold,but they were too quick for him the girls hold him more tight and the women tripped his feet from beneath him,and he fell to the sidewalk,then all three girls dropped heavily on his chest and sit all three on him , subdue him completely ,and wait with his prisoner the arrival of the fat policeman which is still far , standing and recovering the air. Finally the fat policeman puffing and blowing,ran up to reach them and then the young women relinquish their prisoner and delivers him to the policeman .
