What can I do if the story I submitted several times still has not been received (the screen still says NOT SUBMITTED)? Thanks

Are you following all the instructions, especially clicking through each page and then hitting submit?

You have to click twice.

The first click goes to preview.

When in preview, scroll down and click again, which submits the story.

Are you clicking in the tiny box at top, to agree to the terms and conditions?

No sense in me starting a new thread when I've a similar question.

I've followed all the instructions carefully, clicked submit on my .doc file, and been told it was submitted in a form that can't be read by the robots. I've deleted and resubmitted in .rtf, but got the same message again. Eventually I've resubmitted and clicked 'submit anyway'. THEN I got a server error message (505 I think). I logged back in and under my submissions it says my story is Pending. If this is so, then what's the deal with the server error?

I believe there's been discussion that the server error isn't causing issues with submissions, so long as they show up as pending in your list.

The best thing to do is to immediately click on the pending link when this happens, and make sure your entire story is there, as expected. If so, don't touch the "save changes" button, and you don't lose your position in the queue.

Of course, checking it immediately after submission is only going to lose you a few minutes anyway, even if you do save the changes. The odds of that crossing a threshold for the daily postings is slim.

The submissions system has been giving that false error message off and on for several weeks now. It has been reported.

When I clicked on Pending there was nothing to show :(
I've tried resubmitting again in various formats with the same message about robots. I'll just leave it a few days and see what happens.

Copy-paste it into the story text window. It's a good idea to go through the document with a "find" operation and insert the <i>italic</i> tags and such before the copy part.

That's the most foolproof method of submission to Lit.

OK, I might try that instead, there's only a small number of italics to modify.
Thanks

The message about 'can't be read by robots' is just to warn you that your story may take longer to upload, because it will have to be gone through by a real live human person. Your story is in the system but takes a bit longer if you submit it as a Word document or rtf.

I used to submit using this method. I learned how to use the HTML tags, so now I submit that way.

I used to just press the Submit Now button but now I read carefully through all the pages of the story in the Preview screen before I press Submit Now. Looking at it in the different format often picks up errors I had got so accustomed to that I would just skim over them. (Although not the exciting new word vagnial in my Chapter 28! :D)

Hmmm... Now I'm in a quandry. I don't want to overburden the system with unnecessary submissions. What to do? I

As for speelin errers, I still find it helpful to view things as a hard copy, it's amazing the way an error you've missed by umpteen scans of a digital version leaps from the printed page and smacks you in the face like a wet fish.

I think it's now finally worked! Phew... Just have to wait to see what happens :)
