Like, celebrities, or people you know? If the latter, I strongly, STRONGLY recommend either changing their names and details a bit, or disabling their internet connection forever.

Several of my stories involve people from my real life. For example for 12 cams I used a milf and her daughter I know from my kids school, but the relationship and the life details are all fictional. I did keep their first names, however, otherwise the fantasy wouldn't work.

Even if they read the story, they wouldn't know it was them, since it is a highly fictionalized story of their lives. I've also changed the names of my family members.

So it's up to you what you change, but make sure that even if the person reads the story that they don't realize it's about them.

Most of us (LIT authors) include real life players in our tales. (Hey, they're the folks we know best.) Most of us disguise them. Most of us succeed. Some of us drop names. Some of us dangle participles. But I digress. Sure, include real people in your stories. How well you camouflage them depends on how fearful you are of lawyers. Have fun.

Exactly. :) One thing I was always taught in creative writing classes is "write what you know".

Exactly. It's doing this that helps you give more depth of character and setting. It's why you see authors sometimes thank folks who are experts in this or that, or natives of this place or that, b/c that's how they expand into areas they don't know as much about.

Also, I had a writing teacher tell me the same thing-I'm guessing it's ubiquitous in those classes, b/c I doubt you are her. :)
