Senate GOP tries, and fails, to repeal the ACA

In a rare weekend session Republican Senators attempted to tie a repeal of the Affordable Care Act to a federal highway funding bill. The vote fell along party lines and was defeated. Now some members of the GOP want to amend the Senate rules to require only a simple majority.

Funny how the majority always wants to change the rules rather than negotiate an agreement. I guess the GOP isn't too happy about taking what they dished out for several years.funny, since they complained when the Democrats suggested the very same rule change when they were the majority.

But somehow, NOW it's different.

The Senate only needs a majority to pass a bill; however they need 60% to prevent the Dems from shutting down the gov. through a filibuster.

Hate to point out that you don't know your history but the last two times it was, in fact, the GOP that shut down the government. Their reasons?

1. A popular Democratic president received oral sex from an intern.
2. A popular black Democratic president gave poor people health insurance.

I have no problem pointing out that you don't know your history. The shutdown of 1995 had nothing to do with Clinton's sex life. His impeachment, which was in 1998, did not shut down the government and it was not for receiving oral sex from an intern. It was for lying under oath about the sex, which is perjury, a felony.

In 2013 a, by then, unpopular president was trying to expand Obamacare and the GOP members of Congress, obeying the wishes of their constituents, were trying to change the funding of Obamacare. If they couldn't get a repeal, at least they could modify the damage being done. However, the president would not stand for this, so he vetoed the budget bill, effectively shutting down the gov.
