They are not bad thread topics which is why I wonder if the ideas originate elsewhere, given that he doesn't seem to be much of a conversationalist.

There is no requirement that a tread-starter stay and "host" and some go too far the other way insisting that "their" thread must conform to their expectations. Somehow though, since many people will directly address a thread starter, not re-engaging tends to be lost opportunities to continue a conversation.
