I take my wife out to a romantic vacation. Just the two of us there no one else coming or going. I got keys to paradise from a friend who owed me a favor. The place where I take my wife is a lonely romantic island somewhat like http://img2.goodfon.su/original/3200x1926/1/91/alone-lonely-island-ocean.jpg .

I pack our bags on a friday afternoon and head off there for the next whole week with her. We have wine, food and lots of entertaining movies in a cottage on the island.

The island also has a waterfall which leads to a nautral warm water spring pool. It has tall palm trees and a nice sandy beach. No ships or boats come that far - so its a pretty secluded beach too.

Let me know if anyone thinks this is interesting/sappy/boring :)

I would like to be your wife. You can bore me to death on such place.
May I have the honor of a story with you then Jenny? I'll be around all weekend.

PM me with thoughts please.

An interesting setting. A deadly boring story. Actually, no story at all.

Something has to happen. The crew of the S. S. Minnow washes up on shore after a 3 hour cruise.

The Lord of the Flies boys are barbequing long pig on the other side of the island.

The wife discovers Dick Cheney's undisclosed bunker on the island and moves in with him.

Something.

I am to you what Jane is to Tarzan. You proposed me and I said yes. You protect me and I cook, clean the house, upon your request provide you regular fucks, BJs, HJs, bear children, take care of children and family dog name Dog.

Our little island universe is the most boring place

And then, comes Dick Cheney and set his eyes on me ...

Have a heart.. its my first story here. And yes its a story idea as far as i can relate.

So, you are looking to write a story 750 words or longer and submitting it to the site?

I think I can do that. It seems like a cool idea :). I love writing and this is something I can definitely write a lot about. Let me get to it this weekend I guess :)

Don't forget the rumors that Cheney is really hung according to some photos, though some say his colostomy bag was riding low. Might have to finesse that a little to maintain the romantic angle.

When we are home, I get you flowers and bring you dresses, and cook for you at times as well. I kiss you awake when its morning on some days, and let you kiss me awake on some.
I have a lot of love for you, but we are mostly busy on our own times and places (you in the house and me at work). That's why I decide to take you to the island. I plan well and get the kids to a great summer camp, and have all the pending tasks done before its time to leave. Its a nice place, and its quite interesting and rewarding to see you smile when we get there. Just watching you enjoy the beauty of it is heart warming - knowing that how much you are loving the break and the cool breeze on your skin and the scent of water and the beach.

Just a reminder, Story Ideas is not Sexual Role Play board.

They get to the cabin, but accidentally, the wife discovers she gets off on being watched when she catches one of the hunky native dudes spying on her in the shower. Her obsession grows. She undresses in front of the windows, she answers the door for room service in nothing but a towel that immediately falls off. Finally, the guy catches on, but he's not into it. He's jealous and insecure, and wants to keep his wife's T & A all to himself. How does this play out?

There's a difference between a story and a scene. The above is the beginning of a story. The OP's scenario isn't. If there's no conflict, no challenge to rise above, there's no story. In the OP's scenario, the challenge could be one of many things: the guy has psychological impotence, the guy is a premature ejaculator, the gal has never orgasmed but wants to so bad, the gal wants her guy to eat her cream pie to "prove his love for her" but he won't do it, the guy likes to eat his own cum but the gal is repulsed, the gal starts orgasming and keeps going for an hour and a half (some women are like this) and the guy, a conservative Christian, thinks she's possessed by the devil... so many possibilities.

And I thought only work to be the challenge in life. That is so not true it seems.

Thank you all. And everyone's feedback is greatly appreciated + does make sense. Of Course Jenny seems to be increasingly interested in Dick Cheney *wink**wink*, but that's probably not my version of it.

I definitely do like the ideas of SikFuk's plot (where the story writer rises above a certain challenge).

I have done some reading today and it was quite a lot on the same lines. I think I should write once, get feedback and then improve from there. Thoughts?

Sorry. I just assumed they were. My bad. But yeah the plot I have in mind could lead to a story too now that I've started doing some interesting reading. I guess we need to wait and watch.

Good luck with the story! :rose: :)

Much of the advice given by everyone was serious though the examples were in jest.

Good luck with the story. You'll learn a lot following the process.

I think the point I was trying to make is that you've got movies, and you've got documentaries. The OP's original idea would make an interesting (or not) documentary, the overcoming-a-challenge scenario would make a compelling movie. There's nothing wrong with documentaries. Trying to make them interesting is the challenge.

Almost every time an author here has a preface to a story that says, "This is a true story," or "This really happened," I think, ""Well, this is going to be dull."

Most of the time it is. At best such stories read like diary entries. "So that happened..."

Interesting documentaries have some of the same elements as good drama, often with different voices or viewpoints which build towards some particular conclusion the filmmaker wants us to see.

Biographies are similar. My favorite biographer is David McCullough. He fleshes historical figures out enough that we can see those involved as real people. He has a feel for pivotal moments and drama. He doesn't exaggerate or make up facts, but he has a way of making the bio unfold like a story might with characters we can understand. He can't make up conflict, but he recognizes it in the subjects life and incorporates it in the story.

Sometimes I tease the reader with "this is a fictionalized account of a real-life event." I like thinking the story I'm reading really happened, although usually it's painfully obvious it didn't.

What I've learned from songwriting is that the listener doesn't know the characters the way the songwriter does. When the songwriter sings "I love you," the line is packed with emotion - his emotion. The listener doesn't give a flying fuck because the listener doesn't know the character. It's the same thing with telling a story. The reader needs to know the characters - get invested in the characters - in order to want to find out what happens. "She had an hourglass figure" tells me nothing about the character. "She had an hourglass figure rapidly running out of sand" does, (assuming the reader knows what an hourglass is.)
