"to our knowledge, the sun has not exploded.”

If the sun did explode, all those 'Annie' revivals wouldl be doomed to darkness

that is an up side...

Also on the plus side, England might, briefly, warm up. That's worth a little solarcalypse any day.

If our sun went supernova it would make the Hiroshima A-bomb look like a firecracker. You wouldn't feel anything.

"We have also learned that were the sun to explode, it's likely we would no longer be able to collect subscriptions, therefore there is no need to inform you."

It won't explode, no, so by extension it won't go supernova. It will swell and cool.

I was reading about quasars yesterday. Those things would make our sun giving us the finger look like a playdate. One in particular can swallow material at the rate of ten Earths per second, making it the second most gullible object in the universe after Smoove.

Note: The sun technically is exploding all the time, it just doesn't lose its integrity.

The sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma.

Let me put it this way:in a theoretical scenario where our star has a mass large enough to go supernova or nova,we would die as soon as the effects of the cataclysm struck this planet. Whether from the energy, the particles moving at near the speed of light, the neutrino and gamma ray radiation, the burning of the oxygen in the atmosphere or the shifting of the planets orbit. All life on earth would end immediately end with no comprehending of what happened.

"The reason I am not an astronomer…
Question: "What does the red spectrum tell us about quasars?"
Answer: What is a spectrum? What is a red one? Why is it red? Why is it so frequently linked with quasars? And what the hell is a quasar?"

Thanks for explaining, Mr. Big Degrasse Tyson.
