Aussies! Check in here!

A handbag is a trully mysterious thing.
Need a safety pin? There"s one in there somewhere.
A rubber band? A sewing kit? A nail file, a hairbrush, a toy to keep the kid amused? Look in the bag.
What about tissues, makeup, deodorant, hand cream, scrunchies, snacks, water bottle, panadol, plasters, pen, notepad, re-useable shopping bags, straws, hand sanitizer, phone, keys and wallet?
Chances are, that handbag has most.....if not all.....of those inside.

And in my case, add phillips and flathead screwdrivers, knife, ipad and spare knickers

And yet women can't seem to find what they want when looking in said handbag...imagine if they actually made women's jeans with usable pockets. Keys and wallet seem to be the hardest to find when required. Especially trying to find the house keys when needing to pee between parking the car and getting thru the front door.

Afternoon all,

Hope all the mother's had a good day on Sunday, with or without knickers.

Are we all budget focused? Nope me neither. Never is anything there for us single folk. Is there more to be revealed about pensions and super pensioners? Govts can't make up their minds. Encouraging people to be self reliant in their retirement years then wanting a piece of that pie as well, considering pensioners have been paying tax for many years already.

Wonder if smoking Joe will be dancing before this budget?

Smokin' Joe has already been dancing a quick shoe shuffle as he desperately tried to convince us that this is his budget. He must get one passed one day!

The budget might not have good news for you, but it's great to see that Warrior Queen has had great news and Dark Elf is well on the improve... May it continue.

Who's going to their dawn service tomorrow? I go every year, and despite the fact that it will be raining buckets, I will be there in the morning :)

I was there in Martin Place! very moving even with all the crowds.

(very belated - away for several months. Sadly, came back to not even 1 lonely PM! Clearly I need to stick my head in more often.)
(or something)

Congrats WQ for the great outcome so far - brilliant news.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi everyone! Not sure if this is even the right place so many Aussie's come up when I searched :D

Not sure if even Joe knew which team he should be on, wasn't sure myself after his budget. Thought I was listening to a Labour budget. Nothing for big business they must be shocked.

Yep right Bat time, right Bat station...possibly showing my age now.

A place where a thong is what you wear on your feet and we continue to con tourists into eating Vegemite, unless you're on the Jimmy Fallon show where they trick themselves into eating it.

Welcome to the Aussie thread hopefully you're staying out of the cold and wet stuff.

Afternoon all,

Well the end of another working week...for others. Been watching the Giro and the Aussies have done well.

So how did we all like the budget? Is this a prelude to an early election...and why are the Libs so generous if that isn't going to happen?

Doing a major clean out of stuff. Rediscovering docs and other things from the past, most has met the recycle bin and have some items for the hard rubbish. The shredder is doing overtime, good mulch for the garden though.

Been rather damp all week in Melbourne town. The rain and hail are taking turns. Not much of a bother except when I need to go out...rather inconsiderate.

I've been travelling through the US this week and last- looking forward to getting back to Sydney and my own bed, and someone in it instead of endles empty hotel rooms.
Nice hotels, but that doesn'tmake up for a warm body beside me :rose:

The only nice thing about hotel rooms is not having to do the housework!

What a week!
First, I dropped my phone into solvent. New phone for me.
Then someone tried to kill me on the highway.
Then I got home to find my kidley bean's best friend died in a freak skate accident.
Then my kidley detroyed his phone. New phone for him.
On Thursday my no 1 son is having major surgery to fuse his ankle.
After that, Fri or Sat, we have the funeral for kidley's friend.
Sun, no 1 son get's out of hospital and I have to drive him back home......on the same hell-highway full of dickheads intent on killing me.

Where's my wine?
I need wine tonight, dammit!

Excellent news, WQ!!!!
I have absolute faith that you will knock the C right on it's arse!

While I marvel at mobile phones and use mine to death, sometimes I wish we just had landlines again. If you weren't home ppl tried again or left a message. It seems there is no longer anywhere to hide!! There have been a few Freudian slips recently with it being left behind in the morning. Then the convenience of it takes over and we're friends again.... :/

I hope your recovery is accelerating, Mr Elf. <3

Elves are known, worldwide, for their recuperative powers and er...general prowess. An Elf in the reno business has the mind boggling :D

There seems to be a much deeper story tantalisingly nearby regarding the handbags/ luggage/weapons on wheels observation.... I trust it is not the thing of nightmares....

Hi Trisk

Things are getting better but will take a while, couldn't get a timeframe from the specialist so I'm just carrying on with faith that it will eventually sort itself out. Now that I'm more able to do stuff the cold weather has arrived so not that appetising to go outside. Decided to do a whole house cleanout instead which has been interesting thus far. The recycling bin is getting a workout and the shredder. Found some items for the hard rubbish collection later in the year.

Seems I'm not the only one in the street doing or contemplating reno tasks. A couple of houses are having major rebuilds. The trend to rebuild and have double storey houses is taking over. It will be funny when they finally complete their houses only to be confronted with looking into each other's bedrooms and their respective properties will have issues with natural light.

As for the luggage thing...I've been travelling for many years and have noticed how the carry on luggage issue has got out of hand over recent years. Some airlines now have a policy of cabin crew not helping passengers with putting their carry on in the overheard lockers. Basically if the passenger can't lift their own carry on, its the passengers problem. On a flight last year I had to take my carry on out of the overhead lockers so that someone could put their oversized trolley bag in the locker that needed two people to lift it into the locker. We all bought a ticket yet some people feel they are more entitled than others. With the self check-in these days nobody is checking carry on luggage.

Hey WQ

Sounds like you shouldn't have got out of bed this week. Don't feel that you were picked on whilst driving on the highway. Same thing has happened to me several times. Only my alertness on those occasions made those near missus rather than fatalities. You can't do much about the idiots on the road. Driving in big city peak hours causes more accidents than country driving.

Think of the freedom of not having a mobile. People may have to actually communicate with you. I tend to annoy people by not turning on my mobile which I only use on occasion. Apparently leaving a message is annoying. I keep reminding people I'm not on 24 hr call for their convenience. I managed to get to and from school without a mobile...how did we cope!

I haven't got any wine opened but I am making a prawn curry tonight. I don't look forward to cleaning prawns but the end result is rather nice. But now that you've mentioned wine I may need to open a bottle of Merlot. Just to keep the chill off you understand.

Afternoon all,

Well the end of another work week for some. Apart from WQ hope the week hasn't been too traumatic for the rest. I see Sydney is getting rain again. I think it should be flippers for tourists to Sydney and canoes for tourists to Brisbane. They will have to reprint all those glossy brochures though.

Been watching the Giro from Italy and it has been raining there as well. Must be getting the broadcast via Sydney.

Whilst doing a clean out of the house I've come across things from the past and as a result going through memories of events from the past. Has been interesting. We all just keep too much stuff and should do a clean out every ten years as life changes.

Afternoon all,

Went to the movies yesterday, first time since last year. Saw the latest Mad Max movie. Lots of action but with a female lead and yes she kept her clothes on. Charlize Theron steals the show for sure. Reckon she will get more of these types of roles. The guy playing Max mumbles a lot and basically plays second fiddle to the female lead.

The street is turning into a reno show with a number of houses now going for rebuilds. Normally a very quite street. Will only add value to my place when I sell up.

Went to the local shopping centre yesterday for the first time this year. Saw a couple of deals coming up tomorrow, I think I'll splash out for a PS4.

Hope your week is going along without too much of an issue.

So it's reno month down your way, huh? I hope you have somewhere to escape too when it gets too much. :)

The Bush Princess has been saying she loved Mad Max. My daughter's idea of a great movie doesn't always match mine. Might give it a go, though.

I bought a Wii for us all but rarely use it. Have been braking out the old Nintendo ds lately, though. Playing those mind games. Gotta watch the clock, though. The time can wizz by!!!

Went as a support to a tribunal hearing today. Still reeling from the shite I heard. It has me totally floored that one person can fit so many lies into a short time. And bald faced. A long road ahead for my friend to get justice.

I hope you health is continuing to improve.:kiss:

WQ, I hope the wine revived both you and you phone! :D

If not, I hope you had fun trying!!!

Hope you're home with warm bed, warm body and sweet dreams. :rose:

I'm still trying to get over there. It may be a white Christmas for me if the trip is put back any further.

Morning all, it's bloody exam week so I should be studying or one of the other million things on my mental to do list but thought I'd drop in for a moment to say hi. :)

Hi :) now stop procrastinating ;)

Hey Trisk

Well it seems we're in for the long haul with the house reno's in the street. Surprised how quickly the tradies working on the house down the street have put up the frame for the second storey, now comes the harder stuff like filling it all in. Still not impressed with the early starts, normally I would be at work but since I'm a man of leisure these days, it wakes me up. I'm a light sleeper. May seek out ear plugs next time I go shopping. More reno stories to come. Surprised there aren't more young mum's going for walks down the street to check out the tradies.

The younger generation wouldn't have been caught up in the Mad Max scene back when it was first around so for them what's old is new again. Certainly a different story line to the original idea of Max being the central character.

The PS4 is going well, I'm impressed thus far. I can now understand the contrast between this new console and the older ones. Spending hours playing games is the point, especially the ones that challenge your mind and ethics. Has to be challenging.

When I was working I was involved with workmates seeking acknowledgement of what was done to them by a specific previous director. I've continued that involvement even though I've left the workplace. I've come to realise that those in charge will defend their position no matter what, so it comes down to who keeps the better records. The "I don't recall" comment has become a standard defence, otherwise called the Alan Bond defence. Unfortunately we as a society tend to accept narcissism which means the receiver is devalued. Once you devalue someone they become a plaything. Comes down to the culture of the environment, it is difficult to change culture but not impossible. Just keep fighting the good fight and don't let the bastards win.

As for my health well its definitely better and the new GP is very happy about the other medical stuff I've even lost more weight which is a good thing, but it seems I now have to manage the other issue long term. At least I'm able to be more active these days. Now its just the weather keeping me from doing much outside. Winter has really set in, which is where the video games come into their own. Mind you I am getting my butt kicked a lot, but I'm learning how to get the better of the enemy. Kinda reminds me of being back at work.

Stay warm:kiss:

Afternoon all,

Well its now officially the start of the cold mornings. For those in the northern parts, yep time to turn down the fan to its lowest setting and ditch the t-shirts for a proper shirt. For the rest of us...for the ladies two stiff nipples weather and for the guys balls the size of walnuts, some may even experience them hiding to keep out of the wind chill.

Went to put on my usual coat only to discover the zip didn't work, seems its gone into retirement before me. Sought to have the zip replaced was told it would cost me $40 which of course includes labour. Looks like I'll be going shopping.

The more Tony and Smoking Joe talk, the more they sound like two cartoon characters. Wind farms cause illness, there is no housing price issue in Sydney its just you lot don't have good enough jobs and if only old people would die off earlier everyone could afford a home and the budget would be in surplus. Overtime and penalty rates means less jobs. Global warming is only an issue in Summer and if people would just use less gas, electricity and water, utility costs would be affordable. Gay marriage is a fad. Makes perfect fucking sense from a mountain top.

Did someone say stiffnipples?
It was minus 2 here again this morning.....might be time to swap out the nipple rings for bars (less metal surface area to freeze!)
