I'm on RECIDIVA's side. We hate each others guts but Eyer and ANN are sick asshats and RECIDIVA is lucid more often than most.

yes, and this is one of the things that I noticed (and baffles me a bit) about this site.
People like JBJ or BusyBody who've put up v. bad racist/homophobic posts - when it comes to conversing on a 1:1, they showed respect and courtesy .
Now don't jump in, ms_Ann, to say something witty like "because racists etc also support child molesters".
Unlike you, they show respect to most peopl. that they interact with, apart from the 'fuck-off' to those who have a go at them.

Given that freedom of speech is rigorous defended here why would you be surprised?
If actual inmates with horrendous crimes were able to access Lit and admitted the extent thereof, so long as they did not post prurient details about crimes that would violate the rules they can stay. I would, most likely, choose to ignore them and not interact with them, which is sort of the point of the ongoing discussion.
Those that have decided they don't wish to interact are making what is for them a reasoned choice. Even among those there are divides. For many it is as much about the actual events as the way the events have been recounted and rationalized. For some others...the events, though not approved of, are put to the side either because they adjudged to be minor or time passed or they feel better about the clarifications or whatever.
It is no different than those that actually go around spewing actual offensive, to many members of the board, content. They get to stay too, and they are actively committing anti-social offenses that, in my view, warrants shunning. Not everyone is going to hop on board my campaign for that either.
It is not like this is something new. Odious behavior has always been excused and even sometimes tacitly encouraged as long as it is aimed in the right direction. I believe that was Eyer's cogent point, several expired equines ago.
