Question Regarding Voting - Keyed to Amount of Sex?

Readers want something to traumatize their minds. They want what they cant forget. They want your words to shove them off the bridge or roof. Its that simple.

It would be good if that were true but I don't think it is, in general, particularly at Literotica. I think that most readers seek and are comfortable with set formulas that they understand (or think they will) before starting the read. We have post after post here of squeamish "I don't want to be surprised" let alone traumatized threads posted to the boards.

You can see it in your own stories here. The ones I've looked at are set to traumatize and reflect the underbelly of a barren life led by many. But what has that got you in terms of "what readers want" here? You've turned most voting/comments off and what you left on isn't evidencing that it's what readers here want.

I agree with the first part of this. The readers want to have the same lunch every day, they take comfort in it. Also people's kinks are their kinks and they don't like peanut butter in their chocolate...I have a cousin who watches nothing but blow job porn, has for years, he doesn't want to watch group sex, or bondage or lesbians, just BJ's...its the same for readers.

The part about JBJ is correct as well. I like his stuff, its raw, its rough, it shows the seedy side of life-and more often than not the most realistic part of life-he writes "noir erotica" and yeah, look what he gets.

But his latest is a little more of a straight up horny milf story and last I checked he had a decent score on it.

This makes the same mistake in the other direction, I think. There isn't just one reader on Literotica who wants it one way. There's a mix. There will be readers who do want be be surprised/traumatized/challenged. I just don't think it's all of the readers or even most of them.

No, not every reader, not at all, there's factions upon factions here and nothing pleases or displeases everyone.

But what I find is that things I have written and read that aren't the typical formulaic story in the category, things that bring more to the story than what they are used to score lower than the fun, fluffier stuff and its a very noticeable difference.

All my mother son stuff is just pure fun fantasy and they all score about the same. I wrote one where the father was an abusive nasty drunk who humiliates the mother and hits the son and it's about .25 lower than the fun stuff.

I'll say "in general" it seems the majority here are happy with whatever cliche/trope works for them.

Look at incest...there are countless stories of mom's catching their son spanking it and are so enamored with seeing his cock they have to have it...beat to death that is...but write one and people will love it.
