Politico - Bush is seen in a favorable light by 52 percent of those surveyed, compared with 43 percent who still view the 43rd president unfavorably. Americans are split on Obama, with 49 percent responding favorably and unfavorably.

Phone poll. They could have been thinking of the elder Bush, or even Jeb.

He's also out of office. Are they saying they want to return to 2001-2009 or are they happy they've barely heard two words from Bush since he left office?

I assume that's for a few reasons, they don't have to deal with that person anymore, they aren't responsible for anything and in the case of Carter isn't he basically known for Habitat for Humanity?

I'm certain that plays into it. Just like Dubya's recent press conferences with Clinton reminded people how likeable he is. None of it really means we'd want either of them back running the country.

Precisely. A beer with Bush sounds like it would be great. Hell I think Harold and Kumar got that right, he's got a weed stash and he'd share as long as you didn't tell his dad. Obama. . .I think he's a goodish president but I don't think I want to chill with him for a weekend. Not unless I want someone who will play basketball. Can you imagine if I can post on my facebook me dunking on a president?!

Polls can't change history.
