Boulder cops declare ‘rock stacking’ a jailable offense to stop local artist who spent 7 years creating sculptures

Michael Grab, a Boulder artist who goes by the name Gravity Glue, said that police threatened to ticket or jail him for creating stacked river rock sculptures that the community has been enjoying for years.

In a Monday Facebook post, Grab explained that a Boulder police officer had informed him that there would be stiff penalties for continuing his art.

“For the past 7 years i have been creating this art in and around Boulder, Colorado, USA. nearly every day!” he wrote. “[J]ust this weekend, one police officer has decided that balancing rocks in Boulder, Colorado is now illegal, obscurely referencing two city codes [5-4-8 and 5-4-2] about ‘destruction of public property’ in relation to rocks.”

I don't believe any rocks were harmed in the making of this bullshit.

Kentucky police shipped mentally ill inmate to Florida by Greyhound bus
— then charged him with escape

Defying a court order to take a mentally ill inmate to a state hospital for observation, a Kentucky police chief bought a one-way ticket to Florida for the man, sending him on a 28-hour bus ride, only to have the state extradite him back by saying he escaped.

According to investigation by the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, Carrollton Police Chief Michael Willhoite spent $18 of his own money to rid himself of 31-year-old Adam Horine, instead of following a judge’s order to send him to Eastern State Hospital in Lexington for a thorough psychiatric assessment.

Defending himself while appearing before Judge Elizabeth Chandler for threatening a cab driver and “cussing in public,” the itinerant Horine begged the court for help, claiming he was mentally ill and saying “things I shouldn’t say.”

I...I... What?

Everything seems reasonable until the police officer asks Cooks for her name. He hadn't, at least according to the footage, asked the white woman's name. Cooks refuses to give her name.

"I do have the right to ask you," says the officer. He was correct, but there is no law that says Cooks had to tell him her name.

Cooks wants to make a call to make sure the officer is telling the truth. Suddenly, the officer declares: "Ma'am. I'm going to give you two minutes."

The officer becomes insistent. In an instant, he grabs Cooks, as she pleads with him not to touch her. She is handcuffed behind her back and then cast to the ground.

Maybe its time to disband all police departments and let folks just fend for themselves. The police arrest slow down seems to be doing a good job in Baltimore at the moment.

Sure, everybody's got guns and a 2nd amendment right. Nothing else needed.

You can't stack rocks in Boulder?!

Honestly as bizarre as that sounds it's not actually uncommon. There are tons and tons of places in California where if they can figure out who did it you can get major fines for knocking down rocks. You can't take anything out, including rocks and all hell will break loose if you try to take a rat or lizard. There are entire sections of some Marine Bases that you aren't allowed to walk because they have some kind of. . .I forget the technical term but basically sea monkeys and they don't want you destroying their habitat nor moving them to new locations. It has to do with preserving natural habitats and if you let one guy do it you can't really bitch when the kids wander up and start spray painting the rocks.

BOISE - A former Boise Police officer charged with sexually abusing several infants has been sentenced.

Stephen Young was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Wednesday. He'll have to serve 12 and a half years before he's eligible for parole. Young changed his plea in June from not guilty on four counts of lewd conduct to guilty of one count of sexual abuse of a minor.

That charge was for a victim between 14 and 18 months old.

I don't know how long it took but if the cops get charged and get a decent sentence I count that as justice done.

Maybe its time to disband all police departments and let folks just fend for themselves. The police arrest slow down seems to be doing a good job in Baltimore at the moment.

That's not actually a realistic choice and adults shouldn't talk like that.

‘Paramilitary thugs': Colorado man livid after SWAT blows up his entire home in pursuit of shoplifter

A Colorado man accused police in Greenwood Village of being “paramilitary thugs” after they blew up his home while trying to catch a gun-toting shoplifter who had decided to hide out there.

“There was one gunman with a handgun and they chose to turn this house into something that resembles Osama Bin Laden’s compound,” Leo Lech explained to KMGH.

Robert Jonathan Seacat, 33, had allegedly picked Lech’s home at random last Wednesday when he was on the run from police who suspected him of shoplifting. Seacat was said to have opened fire on officers as they tried to apprehend him.

So ~$50bucks worth of shoplifting=$250K in destruction?
And Chief shrugged?

At the current rate, this might become the first Politics board thread to reach the 5000 post cutoff.

It's my party.....

The more we are digging into this story, the more bizarre it gets. The reason could be that it seemingly involves cops, hookers, underage kids and cocaine. How do all these things come together, you ask? Because the cops involved are indeed acting as if they are above the law and are not interested in dealing with the consequences of their actions.

Cops steal your shit and claim you're a crook, without any evidence! What part of due process is that?

It's not stealing....it's "Pennies from Heaven".

Louis Rulli, a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania who supervises a legal clinic that has helped low-income people facing forfeiture proceedings, said the justice system sometimes takes more innocuous things — a child’s piggy bank, for instance.

Law officers took the bank while searching the home of a woman never charged with a crime, Rulli said. It took more than a year for attorneys to reclaim the piggy bank and the $91 inside, Rulli said.

So when I was at a party and the cops showed up there were several things that happened:

- We usually left, you did not stand around and give the cops a lot of shit
- If the cops came in hard, and told you to get the fuck out, you just got the fuck out
- If you got caught for being a dope, you went into "Yes, Sir" , "No, Sir" mode. You did not give the cops a lot more shit and beg to get fucked with.

From that video all I saw was a lot of stupid kids staying around, not getting the fuck out of there, and not being respectful and begging to get fucked with. They got what they got because they are fucking stupid, not because the color of their skin or because the cops is an asshole. I mean, he is an asshole, but all cops are assholes. That is why you go into Yes, Sir" , "No, Sir" mode. Don't they teach kids this anymore?

Whatever - that is just my opinion.

One of the officers involved has been suspended.

A Texas police officer has been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation after video surfaced showing one cop pulling a gun on a crowd of teens at a pool party while others handcuffed teenage partygoers.

Police on Friday evening were called to the Craig Ranch North Community Pool in McKinney, roughly 40 miles north of Dallas. McKinney police said in a statement they were responding to a disturbance "involving multiple juveniles at the location, who do not live in the area or have permission to be there, refusing to leave," and that some of them were fighting.

Which was not true, BTW. One of the girls attacked was not only a resident, but an organizer of the party.

And it was two white women who started the "fighting".

A white woman at the pool started making racist comments, Thomas said, such as telling black teens at the party to get used to the bars outside the pool because that’s all they were going to see.

Grace Stone, 14, who is white, told BuzzFeed News that she and friends objected to an adult woman making racist comments to other teens at the party and that the woman turned violent.

This is when, according to Thomas, a 19-year-old black woman told the belligerent white woman to stop fighting with the teenagers. The white woman called the black woman a “young bitch,” then walked up to her. After the young woman said her age out loud, the older woman punched her in the face. Another unidentified white woman jumped in as well before Thomas, who was recording the incident, and his friends went to break it up.

It was after this incident that the cops showed up and “started cursing and yelling at us,” Thomas said. He described an officer manhandling a young girl, as shown in this video embedded above.

Those two white women are the only ones who should have been arrested or cuffed in this incident, but I see nothing to indicate that they were; maybe they were.

There, you see? Police aren't killing every black criminal. Some are still getting arrested.
