Because...by the way a not sure thing xtra point will lead to more two point tries or it could lead to more ties and more overtime and more points for fantasy.

I just realized there will probably be betting lines on who will be the first to miss under the new rule.

Interesting, but I think you and this writer will be surprised. Just because I like making predictions, I'm saying the PAT conversion rate on kicks will drop this year from over 99% to no more than 95%, probably less. That may not seem like a lot, but it's at least four to five times as many misses, on a percentage basis. That will result in many more running/passing attempts from the two, and fewer kicking attempts from the fifteen. It will make a big difference in more than just a few games, perhaps even more than I think, and I already think it will make a considerable difference.
 
Two things of note on this year's new extra point rule. First, during the preseason games played so far about four times as many extra point kicks have been missed, on a percentage basis, as were missed during the regular season games played last year. It remains to be seen if that will continue through this year's regular season, but I think it will, pretty much, and will ultimately result in many more running/passing two point attempts than were attempted under the old rule. I think this will be the case not only as an attempt to make up for missed kicks, obviously, but perhaps even as a deliberate strategy by certain teams to score more points, period. I note the Philadelphia Eagles, for example, have now traded third string quarterback Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals for a low future draft pick, and I'm thinking that was done mainly with an eye to keeping Tim Tebow on the squad, primarily as a third string running/passing two point specialist QB. We shall soon see if I'm right about that. I hope he makes the cut.

Again this is Goodell and the owners watering down the 'integrity' of the game by taking something that's been the same since pretty much day one and changing to it benefit the fantasy leagues that are pumping almost as much money into the leagues as the TV contract.

In every sport there are some basic things that should never be changed, this was one of them. I wonder what's next? Eliminating field goals so it will all be touch downs and over rated modern QB's like Manning and Brady and Rogers can get more over inflated numbers(and pad fantasy stats)

Oh, wait they are trying that with narrowing the goal posts to make coaches go for it more on fourth down rather than try a long field goal which will now be harder.

If you're a long time football fan this game is becoming a damn joke.

I actually like this particular rule change. The 99% success rate for a kicking PAT under the old rule was a bit too predictable.

Tell me again why you should reward teams that can only get field goals while punishing the teams that get into the end zone?

The purpose of football is not to kick field goals but to shove the ball down the length of the field.

You miss an extra point and it's the same as getting two field goals.
