I have cancer too

I'm up to 3 docs. I have to weigh all the info and choose. Because I'm so qualified to make such a decision. (roll eyes emoticon)

I picked the best doc and just said do what you'd do if I were your wife. (Then crossed my fingers and hoped he loved her.)

Reminds me of a joke:

Lady Nancy Astor: Winston, if I were your wife, I'd poison your tea.
Churchill: Nancy, if I were your husband, I'd drink it

I'm sure just like me, you're all dying to know what's going on. Dying to know...get it? Anyway...a year after being diagnosed, 2 biopsies, 2 procedures, uncountable ct scans, the guy heading up my treatment goes "ya know, maybe you should get a second opinion." Actually this would be the 3rd. That's next week. Add enough "I'll schedule you an appointment"s together and a year goes by.

That's me.
Living in the box.
Meow.
Or not.

I can relate

Sorry to hear about the cancer thing. May the 25th will be two years ago that i finished my cancer treatments. Have had many tests since that all came back good!!!! Thanks be to GOD !!! All the best to you. It is a rough climb ,,, but you can win this fight if you really try.

I'd better enroll in med school right away.

4.1 cm stage 1 clear cell tumor on my left kidney. No spreading evident. I chose to have it blasted by radio frequency ablation, if I am eligible. I guess that means they stick a small speaker in it and play really loud Beastie Boys or something.

I think you'll be fine.

Last year they found six tumors on my wife's right kidney biggest of which was 501 centimeters and right at the tip near the renal gland.

Left one had eight tumors largest over 6 centimeters, we found it when they were looking for something else.

Kidney cancer grows very slowly they think some of her tumors were six years old-which is eerie because six years ago her sister passed away of lung cancer.

She had both operated on, the right here in RI the left at the NIH in MD they saved eighty percent of each kidney.

They caught yours early it seems so just do everything they say and you should pull though with no worries.

Best of luck.

I fired my doctor today.

I hired a new doctor today.

I think he might save my life.

I wasted a fucking year.

Have an MRI scheduled for the 28th. No one has even mentioned an MRI before. After the MRI a clinic is held and a panel reviews the case and decides what to do next. If a third ablation is not indicated, it's off to Mayo Clinic, or Cleveland. Who want's to go to Cleveland. People die in Cleveland.

It never hurts to have someone else look at it. You kind of have to have a bit of a gun complex in order to be a doctor especially an oncologist. Even they know though that they are not always right. Glad you found a doctor that you have confidence in. Good luck.

Hope is a giddy thing.

I know more people who have died at Mayo's. I would consider Cleveland and I live near Mayo's.

If you have never had an MRI before, let me know if you want any tips. I try to make them as comfortable as possible and I have experience. :D

The best MRI I had was the last one a few weeks ago. The machine was only two years old and infinitely better than any of the previous ones so try and find a new one.

After 2 CT guided needle biopsies it should be a piece of cake. I'm sure it's an old kerosene powered model.
