I have cancer too

I'm not a candidate for DaVinci surgery due to "factors". The surgeon says wait 5 months and rescan, maybe do another biopsy then. The scans are inconclusive to this point. Back into limbo.

If the tumor indeed regrows, I will lose the kidney. Big whup. It's not like it's a tit or a brain. It's just a kidney. The Brits eat them for breakfast.

So, just don't think about it.

The Da Vinci is bullshit anyway. Just a marketing tool, really. You aren't missing anything by not having it done that way.

I just spent an hour looking at pictures of my innards. It's those 2 lymph nodes that concern me.

They take out all the surrounding lymph nodes as well.
If you're worried about them, get another opinion.
Lymph travels throughout the entire body. All it takes is one teeny tiny cancer cell hitching a ride.
I say again - if it were me, I would have the surgery.

No they don't.

I hope you beat it.

I'm trying, I've had radiotherapy for my prostate, and now I'm onto Chemo and feeling better for it. My count is falling and the pain's eased up.:)

My dad went through it. His heart ultimately gave out. Dealing with the medical people and the lose of "personal privacy" can be overwhelming.

There you go, that's the attitude!

The good news is that if you do lose the kidney you just might live long enough to get prostate cancer, but they'll probably have something figured out by then, I hope.

When what you think you know gets in the way of what you think you should say, you should just shut the fuck up...unless you're me.

I had metastatic squamous neck cancer last year that started in one lymph node on my right side of my neck. I went to the doctor thinking it was an ear infection since I had one before. I thought it was a swollen gland.
First they thought it was lymphoma then non hodgkin's lymphoma. Tests & a biopsy proved otherwise. If it was non hodgkin's I wouldn't have survived.
Long story short it spread fast & was stage 4 very quickly. All cancers are different so I know nothing about yours.
But with lymph nodes it travels fast & I got really lucky it didn't spread beyond my neck to other nodes or organs in my body. In 8 weeks it went from one lymph node in my neck to several right to my left side.

I needed 35 radiation treatments on nine different places each day. I also needed 2 heavy chemo treatments I had to stay overnight for. G (feeding) tube to eat.
My cancer was destroyed (no remission with this type).
I have no saliva & may never get any again, fluoride trays nightly for 5 minutes, slightly low thyroid (all from radiation damage) & am dealing with low platelets which I'm on prednisone right now for.

In my case, which is different, 5 months would of cost me my life.
I'm so glad I'm not far from Princess Margaret hospital in Toronto as they're world renowned in this field.

I don't know what you're talking about, I had one of the finest oncologic surgeons in the country. There was no speculation.

All I have are ct scans. Well...that part is dark. That's good. That's lit up. It's probably just kidney tissue, or it could be cancer. Hard to tell. Let's just watch it.

Choices based on speculation. That's not how I prefer to do things.

It is your choice, because it's your body.
But when I had cancerous changes detected in a few moles on my back, I had all of them removed that day, including the moles that showed no.changes.
Yes it hurt. Yes I'm scarred.
And yes, I'm alive (20+ years on).

My doc proceeded on scans, both times. Every case presents differently I guess.

Something you can see is way different from something that you cannot.

I'm up to 3 docs. I have to weigh all the info and choose. Because I'm so qualified to make such a decision. (roll eyes emoticon)
