Arousal during migraines?

I know, I know... when you have a headache, arousal is the last thing most people can think of. I must be a bit perverse here, but...

Thankfully I don't get them often, but when I have a severe migraine and am past the point of maximal pain (cowering in a dark, cool room), I have found that sometimes I can have a truly spectacular orgasm.

Perhaps it is just the triptans? I haven't done a proper control. But once I have that orgasm, I can usually fall into a long, deep sleep... and wake up feeling o.k.

I try not to confess too much on a thread because I don't want to get any weird pm's. But an orgasm is one way that might get rid of headaches for some, whether it's tension headaches, cluster headaches, or migraines. I've purposely masturbated to get rid of headaches and relax to the point of sleeping. So, it's not a strange thing to do. Most people who are in pain will try anything to get rid of it, if it's within their power. And this method of pain relief doesn't cost anything.

As someone who also suffers from migraines I too have found that an orgasm can help break a headache as long as I catch it early enough. Now if I'm too far gone - like the cowering in a dark room with no sound, light, or smell - yeah, don't touch me.

I've never had sex while on my triptan, but I can admit to feeling aroused once it takes affect and the migraine starts to subside. I can see where perhaps a good orgasm and "sleeping it off" might work. I normally take my Maxalt and sleep a bit and that takes care of it.

I can definitely relate to cowering in a totally dark room with absolutely no sound and no movement. Another thing that helped me with headaches was relaxation techniques and biofeedback. I am probably one of the fortunate ones. My daughter has aural migraines, and depending on the migraine, numbing of body parts. One day she was painting her fingernails when a migraine blasted out of nowhere. The bottle of nail polish fell to the floor and her kids picked it up and started painting the walls. Meanwhile, she couldn't move or speak. When she recovered, she explained to the kids that when she has migraines they are to behave and help her, not destroy the house while she's immobile.

I think I've run the gamut of treatments including acupuncture, raindrop oil massage, and a heavy medication regime. I've found a combination that works well and now get one or two a month that might knock me down which is better than the seven or eight I was having.

Haven't heard of the raindrop oil massage.

I also get migraines and i often joke that im the only woman that wants sex when she has a headache. Lol

On a similar note last week i was in a motorcycle accident and the next day my fwb showed up to check on me and my motorcycle. After heading back to my place he was like just naked cuddles because he was worried about hurting me more. We have this rule that if my hands aren't busy doing something they have to be on his cock.

Well one thing led to another and afterwards i rolled over and said,"Daddy is better than percocets." and fell asleep cuddled next to him. Lol

I'm the same way. Orgasm + coffee is my usual headache cure with painkiller tossed in when that combo fails.

Feel better!

Thanks. I got off really lucky. A few bruises and a concussion. I still don't remember exactly what happened. Sadly he isnt around to help any further because we live in different cities

I agree with what's been said, sometimes if i can catch it soon enough this will work to cure my migraines. But if it's too late it's hard to finish and doesn't really help anymore.....but it is a nice cure when it works. :)

I wish this worked for me, but I've found my head feels like it will explode with the orgasm with my migraines. They are worse than childbirth! (For me, anyway)

As a man and a sufferer I can tell you that masturbation forms part of my survival kit.

Only if I'm at home of course.

And I find prolonging is best.

My theory is diverting blood away from the head and down to other parts ;)

But I also find that after the climax, I can fall immediately into the best remedy of all.... Sleep.

Maybe if more people were open with their doctors we'd see some study into this.

Imagine being prescribed masturbation lol

Hard to do a well-controlled masturbation study :) The control group would know who they were. And getting funding for the study... drug companies would hate it. Medical device companies might be initially interested, but it is unlikely they will profit from it (cheap vibes already exist). And can you imagine the uproar if the media found out that NIH was funding a masturbation study?

Don't forget the blow job study and the actual sex study......could take ALOT to find this out......i'll volunteer.. but not sure i can handle all the migraines....

An off-label use of orgasm, short-term effective for some but, unfortunately, not all.

For me, headaches come after orgasm, not the other way around. Over the weekend my wife and I had awesome sex - and afterwards I had to take Aleve because I had a massive headache. Another time I got a massive, shooting headache during sex that ruined it. Frankly, it really fucking sucks.

I've had that too after. The release can be a trigger the following day.

My tips:

Don't do it too often

Drink water after sex before you sleep

Control your breathing during sex to ensure you're not holding your breath

I have heard this before but always just thought it was some internet LINE men used...

Glad to see some verification from women...

So I'm not the only one who gets thirsty after sex. I NEVER get tired - the first thing I always want after sex is water.

The strange thing I've heard - my wife gets hungry after sex, but only since she had surgery (weight loss surgery to be exact.)

All I can think about when I have a migraine is finding a soft bed, darkness and a handful of ibuprofen before closing my eyes... never had sex during this, although horny 24/7 normally this is the least horny time I could think of for fucking x x x

Not as Crazy as You Think

My doctor, a wonderful baptist, has told me that masturbation is sometimes helpful.

I was a bit shock to hear her tell me that

Have the worst headache I've had in years. The last thing I want to do is orgasm since I'm feeling hurt and anger about a man who disappeared. Just venting. Mostly I've been handling it well.

I've never tried this and suffer from migraines a lot. I completely understand the cowering in a corner. It feels like a someone with a giant hand is squeezing my brain.
Over the last 8 months I've gained a new trigger for them and it's when I climax. Luckily it's very few and far between but it's the most excruciating pain I've ever felt.
