And New England gets fined $1 million.

They will also lose their 2016 first-round pick, and a fourth-round pick in 2017.

Pretty heavy stuff.

Discuss.

This.

They can sleep this shit off and it won't make a diff.

Fuck Tom Brady.

Agreed. They got off WAY too light. Should be a lifetime ban for him & Belichek, and a HoF ban as well. This isn't the first time they've been caught cheating.

Seriously? Aren't there worse things done by NFL players than this?? I am baffled.

This a lot less than violence and murder.

The integrity of the game is everything.

Just ask Pete Rose.

He didn't beat anyone, murder anyone, but he's been out of baseball for over 25 years.

They shouldn't have been allowed to play in the game in the first place. I agree with stripping the SB win from them.

This from NFL statement:

"We reached these decisions after extensive discussion with Troy Vincent and many others," Commissioner Goodell said. "We relied on the critical importance of protecting the integrity of the game and the thoroughness and independence of the Wells report."

Integrity of the game? Really, when the use of the injured list began so gamblers could set a line.

Independence of the Wells report? When the league used a law office they've used before to defend them, how is that independent?

Brady's suspension will be down to 2 or 1, the fine down to $500K, and the draft picks will be given back on appeal

More than likely.

Unless there has been some change in the statement released by the league the last I heard was that Brady "probably knew" about the under pressured footballs. I'm sorry but "probably" just doesn't cut it, not for the fines and penalties levied. New England has never been my favorite team but you levy those kinds of penalties on facts, not "probabilities."

Sorry, but even in civil court, 51% certainty is good enough. It's certainly enough to take away money, and it's certainly enough to take away someone's job. Hell, in my business, if someone cheats on my table, and there's even a slight possibility of me being involved, I get fired without question. So as far as I'm concerned, he not only deserved what he got - as did the team - but it wasn't anywhere near enough. It should be a lifetime ban, just as Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson should be banned for life, lest you people think I'm being a misogynist.

But just for good measure, fuck the Patriots.

I think if there was absolute undeniable proof that Brady and Bellicheck knew and were responsible, there would have been worse punishment like lifetime bans. As it stands, The punishment is kinda light considering its a "second offense" on the team.

I think its bull in light of the fact that the report states "probable" and he was "generally" aware.

If you are going to suspend someone and tarnish a legacy and brand someone a cheat the report should be certain and definitive.

Funny how the 'unbiased' report about whether or not the NFL commissioner saw the Ray Rice video prior to the two game suspension was 'definitive' even though TMZ and many other sources said differently:rolleyes:

CNN sports posted an article today saying all the evidence in the report was circumstantial at best. So again this is pretty heavy accusation with no certain proof. I think he is going to win an appeal and i think there was noise being made Brady may go after the NFL for libel....

But forget that, what really disturbs me is this

The way the NFL went after this with such dedication and how much money they spent and how much effort they put into this.

far more than they did Ray Rice and that video is the most damning thing you could ever see. Rice only got more than two games because the public was so outraged at what Rice did and how little the concern was for it from the NFL

Peterson was still on the Vikes roster, the NFL doing nothing...until sponsors threatened to pull their money, then they got serious with him.

And...note how this story was not released until after the draft because the commissioner didn't want anything interfering with the three days of draft coverage...

and BTW while the NFL was going after Brady as if he had killed someone(oops that was Hernandez) they don't seem concerned at all that their number one raft pick is involved in a civil suit going back to a rape accusation. In fact the jerks own attorney came out and said the punk has serious off the field issues and....hey welcome aboard!

Even hernandez....it was discovered he was involved in a shooting at U Miami...and he was allowed to be drafted.

My point is the NFL right now is loaded with real criminals. Hardy...beats his GF and possess enough automatic weapons to back a revolution, but Jerry Jones couldn't sgn him fast enough...

Every week, arrests for domestic abuse, assault, DUI, weapons, drugs...

But those balls, man! Get on that.

I am a Pats fan, but if he cheated and it can be proven I'll be disappointed and say he deserves what they did, but....it doesn't seem they proved it

But as I said what is worse if that this, not things like beating your damn wife in an elevator is what gets the NFL fired up and gunning for "justice"

The guy running this league is an unethical disgrace, maybe they should run a report on criminal activity under his "reign" opposed to other commissioners.

I'm surprised at the draft pick because it seemed the report cleared BB and the team itself.

I agree with you that violent acts are worse, but that doesn't change what Brady and the Patriots did. This was something they did on the field to give their team an advantage.

The guy who did it called himself, "The deflator". That's some pretty damning evidence.
