President Barack Obama dismissed a liberal senator’s warning that “fast-track” trade authorization being considered by Congress could weaken U.S. financial regulations he helped put in place after the 2007-2008 crisis that triggered the Great Recession.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, long a champion of stricter rules for Wall Street, said in a Tuesday speech that fast-track authority to push through a sweeping Pacific trade pact could be used to roll back the Dodd-Frank financial reform law.

“She’s absolutely wrong,” Obama said in a Friday interview with Yahoo News that was posted on Yahoo.com on Saturday.

“Think about the logic of that. The notion that I had this massive fight with Wall Street to make sure that we don’t repeat what happened in 2007 and 2008,” Obama said. “And then I sign a provision that would unravel it? I’d have to be pretty stupid. And it doesn’t make any sense.”

The 2010 financial reform law is considered one of the Democratic president’s signature legislative achievements.

Obama dismissed Warren’s concerns as hypothetical, telling Yahoo: “There is no evidence that this could ever be used in this way. This is pure speculation.”

So let's see the treaty. Most of the comments on the TPP are speculitiative because it has not been reveled to the public, and we have no way of knowing if the TPP isn't just another 'ship jobs overseas' like NAFTA.

Show me the Treaty and discuss it like Democracies are meant to.

It's pretty much loathed on this side of the pond already, not least for the implications about the NHS. And similar treaties are being used, for example, to sue the Australian government for plain tobacco packaging.

But little real debate. And with Thursday's result, it's going through in Britain whether we like it or not.

socialized health care is a retarded idea ... those that believe in it have never enjoyed 1st class health care.

Now, I understand your kind. you drive a Yugo and have no idea what its like to drive a BMW ... Now, I can't really fault you for owning and loving your Yugo but there is a better world out there

If you live in the US and aren't a millionaire and think you know what 'first class health care' is, you're living in the kind of delusion I'd pay good money to experience.

If you're not a rich American you've never had 1st class health care either. The reality is that socialized health care is cheaper and more effective than what we've got and we all know it.

Aww that's so cute that you know what a Yugo is. Have you heard of a Volkwagon or Mercedes? Oh wait. . .you know where BMW comes out of right?

BMW's are socialist and you're a commie for having driven one. ;)

again, from another person that owns a Yugo. Socialized health care is not less expensive, retard. you just spread the costs out and punish successful people so that your kind can sit on your ass with your hand out drinking a budwiser and smoking

put some skin in the game, stop being lazy.
remember, 51% of America is like you ... where they don't want to work. what will you do when that number hits 80%? Who will pay for your welfare?

its one thing to be poor, but its another thing to not want to make a better life for yourself. I just don't understand your kind that will sit on his or her ass with their hand out waiting for someone to give them something for free ....

Nope it' s just plain cheaper, the entire rest of the world has proven it. Americans spend more on Health Care and frankly don't get the same positive results as most of the world. It would be one thing if we were expensive but damn good but we aren't.

I have skin in the game, that's why I want this for my country. Because it will make us all better off and more competitive with the rest of the world. When the number hits 80% I'll shrug. I'm aiming for 100%

sure, its less expensive for you as your neighbor is paying for you to have insurance

wow, you are stupid

If you don't get why either a) having a for-profit but very highly regulated system--e.g. Northern European countries, Japan--or b) a public, non-profit system--every other sane country but the US--results in lower prices than a system where the providers are exempt from most anti-trust laws, are allowed to fix prices and also not list prices, and are even protected by law from competition, then you really have no place throwing the "stupid" label around in an economic discussion.

No, what Canada and the UK have proven is they provide a lower quality of health care system to your kind. I'm sorry, but I don't want sub par. Maybe if I was one of your kind on welfare as a career, then I might feel differently.

pssst - it was proven that a higher deductible with a HSA account was the way to go ... but you obama salves gotta have your welfare socialized health care

Yes, they have. Which is why "American-style health care" is a phrase that scares the living fuck out of your average Canadian or Briton. That makes sense.

They don't get lower quality. They get higher quality than we do. If you were one of my kind,a business owner, you'd demand this. So yes you would feel differently. I guess some of the slave kind do want to keep things as it is.

then you need to get a better job with better benefits ... it would scare the shit out of me if we ever needed to have a procedure in either country as most hospitals look like they came out of the 1960s

but since you are poor, I guess you have never seen the advances in modern medicine

I'm a cancer survivor and business owner--I'm just not a fucking mouth-breather who accepts everything that Rush Limbaugh tells him uncritically.

P.S. Most people who experience real illness in the US, either directly or through family or friends, come away very angry with the US health care system. Your comments make me think you've either rarely experienced a hospital stay in this country or are even less observant than you appear.

So you'd be scared to have your operation in the US where many of our facilities are literally out of the 1950's. No where on earth willy you find as much outdated crap as you do in the US. Granted it's because Europe was sorta destroyed in the 40's and much of Asia just wasn't modernized until recently but you pretty much have to go to Mexico or Cuba to find shit that's older than ours.

if you don't like Rush then why do you listen to him? Sorry, but don't have the time to listen to that crap ...

American health care system has issues, and sometimes you have to fight the system to get what you need. Still, American health care is by far tops of the world. Sadly, we have too many obama slaves sucking resources when we really needed to focus on deporting those people.

I want to 86 obamacare and go back to the way things were as it was less expensive for insurance and the quality of our health care was better!

on a side note ...
Mark my words, France will fall and its only a matter of 20 years or less

if you live in Europe, you really need to open your eyes as to what a shit hole it has become as they imported too many workers with no skills and now they face too many issues ...

By no metric is the US the top system in the world. We're more expensive with worse health care outcomes. We actually rank behind most banana republics in things like lowering infant mortality rates and delivering preferable health care outcomes.

Hell, at the current rate of investment in the sciences and public research institutions, we won't even be tops in medical research for much longer--which has always been the true strength of American medicine, not practice.

you are adding in the obama slave demographic. if you leave them out, as they chose to be poor then America is the best

people need to wake up and realize the obama/clinton/kennedy kind are selling a crack whore pipe dream. welfare isn't the solution. this is why we have shit holes like Baltimore or Chicago's Cabrini Green

You are aware that the ACA is the traditional Republican plan, right? Despite the name, in policy, it's designed to keep the unsustainable for-profit providers afloat, not give out charity to people. It helps make the system more of a rent extraction device than it is.

Obama framed it as accomplishing what everyone since FDR has been trying to do because he's a megalomaniac who needs to stress how special he is at every moment and counts on his supporters being too dumb to notice how full of shit he is.

The GOP went along with that frame--and did a better job of making it stick--because if even Nixon's/Obama's plan is "liberal" then the goalposts for a "moderate" solution down the road are moved to the next galaxy.

Yep, happily adding to the "slave" demographic. Nobody however has ever chosen to be poor and you're ignorant for suggesting otherwise. We can argue over if people have put in the work to be not poor or not but they didn't choose to be poor.

Welfare is the solution. There is a reason why California and New York are the two biggest economies in the country and by a fair margin. It turns out that all that welfare makes us better. Free and or cheap education created this place you know as Silicon Valley. See our superior education means we have more kids able to program and create things.

the truth is, you want to bring people down to your level.

admit it, you live in poverty. you want others to be as miserable as you

I don't give a shit who created the plan. socialized anything is wrong

all you are doing is bringing people down, to a lower class
