Yeah, well, the thing is that your post didn't really have anything to do with the things people were/are talking about in those threads. So doing something like that gets old really fast.

Post in the personals section. Write about what it is that you are looking for and what you have to offer and you'll have better luck than just spamming your personals ad in places were it doesn't belong and only disrupts conversation.

Honestly though, I never thought it was particularly impolite. Sure, I didn't use the magic word, but I don't think you would have appreciated my message even if 'please' was included.

You've posted the same message or similar messages across the board (including the Personals section), that's called spamming. Read the rules of each forum before you post to avoid breaking them and keep your personal ads in the personals forum. You're welcomed to stay and post in the threads, but try to respect the subject and don't turn every post into an ad, AKA spam.
