I'm cautiously excited about the new movie. It'll probably be better than the prequels, low as that bar is.

Don't have any May 4th rituals though. Might do something this year, I do have a buddy who's well into it.

I think he's got executive consulting/producing status or something along those lines. His sparkly "Lucasfilm LTD" logo bumper is still heralding the trailers (albeit slightly darker than usual) like they do for every movie, which means he's still having a say and getting a cut.

I was a huge Star Trek and Star Wars fan.

I accept I was entirely too invested at some point.

Now I'm just a comfortable nerd.

As someone who didn't entirely detest the prequels because they are what they are, I have better expectations for the new-blood-injected sequels.

I've loosened my standards on expecting amazing stuff.

Now I just want to go and see it and eat popcorn.

I was 11 when the first one came out and I fell in looooove.

I loved the second and third movies.

I have a distaste for the fourth, fifth and sixth movies...

They're about to come out with the seventh, with two more planned.

Does it? He sold the Lucasfilm brand to Disney, AFAIK it's just another company under the Iron Fist of the Mouse now. Last I heard of Lucas is that he's off planning to build affordable housing with the resulting billions.

Understandable. But then he wasn't into Trek, he was just a hired gun on that franchise. Star Wars is his first love and something he might really be able to knock out of the park. Or not, I guess we'll see.
