Deadpool

Slightly concerned that hype will kill it. The best films tend to come out of nowhere.

Yeah, there's always that.

I'm really not sure you can decide to do a Deadpool movie without a sense of humor though.

I'm hoping, anyway. I like what I see so far. This might be one of those things where I want to go to a midnight opening.

I believe this casting was based on his work in the original "Origins: Wolverine" picture, which I saw & still own on DVD. Laughed at his early line, didn't believe it was him when they acted like it was near the end.

Read about this casting a while back, & still find myself wondering why the casting director, other crew, or Blake want to be anywhere near him.

Who would you rather see, given the choice?

I dunno 'bout this.

Same actor playing the same character rolled out in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but they're totes nixing that canon and starting fresh? Which makes it having no connections to the greater X-Men cinematic universe that's been building up all these years?

There's limits to how much you can retcon just because a character's popular and they can make money. The subversive comedy angle, fine, if it's directed competently, it's legit, but...ugh.

This has Green Lantern written all over it. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll see it just because, but at this point, I have little faith in anything Marvel that isn't done by Marvel Studios and connected to the MCU. Big Hero 6 and the Fantastic Four reboot being the exceptions.

Green Lantern...why did you have to...ugh...

Now I haz a sad.

Though..they are keeping him pansexual by canon, that is a nod to not being utter crap.

See, this point. That's what they should be building off of. Not many people know this. Hell, the average person gets him mixed up with Spider-Man. It needs something really subversively different for it to hit and not just exist because fanpeople are a market.

Marvel should've bought back the character and put it through a Daredevil-level revival. Maybe I'm too spoiled by the quality coming out of their shop. :D

Deadpool is...so awesome.

He knows sign language for Hawkeye, WHO SHOULD BE deafer...

Yeah, it could break my heart, but I'm willing to date.

Ryan is funny. Yeah, he's been in some crap. I'd like Jenson Ackles.

Ryan has been in some crap b/c Ryan's been in it. Let's see what he's best known for... The "Green" superhero movie he was in (I even forgot which hero it was), & the "Two Guys" show where the title girl went on to work with (& on) "Monk", & her boyfriend was played by... Oh, yeah! The guy playing "Castle"! On... what's it called again? "Castle"! According to "Sheldon" on "Big Bang", that guy should've been the title character in the aforementioned superhero movie! Maybe he'd be the title guy in this movie if he hadn't already signed-on for another season as the title character on a hit TV series, which is something all Ryan's costars (& his wife) can say they've had, but not Ryan himself!

I will lay odds that U.D. will watch it.

...unless there's a Spiderman movie out. ~smirk~

Nathan Fillion!

He'd be great as well. They're friends, too, Nathan introduced Ryan to Twitter.

Not sure the body type is right, Nathan is imposingly tall.

I'll also be going to see the new Avengers movie. Get a good giggle out of that too if you want.

We'd go see both, duh.

No shit, it's not as if you're limited to seeing one new flick a week. Hell we went to the Batman marathon when "The Dark Knight Rises" came out. "Batman Begins", "The Dark Knight", and "The Dark Knight Rises".

Although after watching Heath Ledger as the Joker in "The Dark Knight" the newer movie was sort of a let down. Had they gone with the traditional mask for Bane rather than the monstrosity that only muffled the actor's dialog and made it impossible to understand anything he was saying it may have been a little better. Maybe.

I was just laughing because I really had no idea who dead pool was. I really did think for a long time that was spiderman.

This makes me sad in my heart.

I grew up in an era when reading comic books was not an acceptable activity for nerds. It was before the age of enlightenment.

Something you and DooleyDumbass have in common. :D

I have these huge pop culture holes in my education. I am not proud of that, but I find it difficult to supplement my intake with that. I have so little patience for the mindless crap, that I also don't get to see the really good stuff with great story lines. It is getting worse as I age. I am going to be one of those cratchety old man who gets absolutely no pop culture references.

I had cable for awhile. I realized that the only time I thought about it was when I paid the bill. I rarely turned it on and when I did there seemed (to me) to be nothing on. So I went and found a bigger package hoping that would help. No good. I occasionally watched the classic movie channel, and the rest I would flip through and nothing caught my attention. I finally gave it up.

I know a lot of really smart, well read well rounded people that find things to watch, you and Reci included so it seems "off" that I don't have the attention span for it.
