Standing in Line?

So how many of you will be camping overnight to get first dibs on tickets to the premier of The Force Awakens?

I ain't sayin' :p

The scene in the clip with Han and Chewie at the end is the best five seconds of the whole thing.

My wife says she'll go with me to see it, though. However, she's more jazzed about the next Avengers movie than Star Wars. I guess I can accept that.

I'll see the Abrams joint, but let's just say I'm managing my expectations.

As raw excitement goes I'm definitely all in for Mad Max: Fury Road, though.

I won't camp overnight for tickets, but I will definitely go see it very soon after it opens. The original trilogy are some of my all time favorite movies -- the prequels not favorites, but still good stories. Hoping the new one captures the magic of seeing "A New Hope" for the first time. I was in 7th grade; my girlfriends all loved Luke and didn't understand why I had such a crush on Han Solo. Even then, I was attracted to older men and bad boys.

Maybe I'll take a day off work opening week so I can go to a mid-week matinee...

I've long thought Mad Max could use a remake or at least an update.

On the subject of remakes, someone should redo The Last Dragon, don't'cha think?

"Sho' nuff!"

;)

That hits me right where I live. :D

Yes, I know. I recognized your AV right away. ;)

Back to Star Wars . . . .

They're only giving us teases of Luke, Han and Leia in the trailers so far (well, actually, I haven't seen/heard Carrie Fischer in any of the teasers as of yet), but I'm damn curious to see how Mark Hamil and Fischer look now. I wish I could remember the blog post I saw, but someone put together a montage of Hamil's changing look from about a year ago to more recent out-and-about shots. The man's looking pretty good for his age, I gotta admit. But the beard looks funny.

I'll see it within a few days of opening unless the word coming out is that it's absolute garbage -- which I doubt will happen.

Age of Ultron I'll be watching on opening day, but that's as much because it opens on my weekday off as anything. Weekends are a no-go with the young one, and if I don't watch it that day, I'll have to wait a week, and that's too long.

Otherwise, I prefer to hit a showing before school lets out a couple of days later -- preferably when there's an option to not have to watch it in 3-D. I haven't seen anything yet where the effects were worth the discomfort of the damn glasses.

Likewise, I don't want to see either of these movies when teenaged kids are out of school, either. If there's anything that ruins a good movie, it's a bunch of teenagers that can't shut up.

I may see it in DVD in two or three years. Not in a theater. There will be more distracting and silly noise and movement going on in the audience than on the screen.

I just want to avoid people in general. LOL That's the group that I can strike off the list with a fair degree of certainty.

Fortunately, we have a chain multiplex that's really too large for the population of the area. As long as you go to a pre or noontime showing, it's nothing unusual to be the only person in your row.

It's going to feel weird to not sit all the way through the credits for once, since they've already announced there won't be an after-credits scene on AOU.

But . . . but . . . there's always an end-credit teaser!

I live in an area where I'm within ten to fifteen minutes of half a dozen movie complexes. I'm sure I could find one that wouldn't be overrun with little pubescent bastards if I went at certain times of the day.

I'm just hoping, with both SW 7 and Age of Ultron, that they don't go too over the top with the action. I think Shane Black teetered on the edge between action and character development with Iron Man 3, while Thor: The Dark World kind of went the other way and played it safe. I guess we'll see.

By the way . . . when are we going to get a new Hulk movie, or better yet, a solo Hawkeye? Maybe Hawkeye/Black Widow? Oh, and, um . . . where the hell does Mockingbird fit into all of this? Or Hank Pym? He freaking built Ultron, after all . . . .

*sigh*

They had them lined up on some entertainment show. Carrie's looking a bit rough too, but then, she wasn't in a face changing accident like Hamil was back in the day.

I should imagine the theater owners have been screaming bloody murder about the end credits scenes ever since they were first widely noticed in the first Iron Man. They've been around since X3, but it was Iron Man where people started caring enough to hang around.

I've heard that there's no solo Hulk movie in phase 3 because of some rights issues between Marvel and Universal. That's expected to hash out, but not in time for phase 3.

Odds are that Hank Pym was involved with the original work on Ultron, and that will be mentioned during AOU. Tony is picking up where someone else abandoned the project in the past. I think where they're going is that Pym was playing the hero game for a while, in the gap between the earliest stories ( First Avenger, Agent Carter ) and Iron Man. The Ant Man suit and Pym Particle technology aren't new in the MCU. It's been used in the past according to the lore they're establishing.

I'm optimistic about Ant Man after seeing the trailer.

Something big is going down on AOS next Tuesday, and one of the things people are whispering is Avengers cameos. The evidence presented involves the teaser for the episode, which included only old episode footage and AOU plugs. Normally, you get footage form the next episode.

Jimmy Kimmel had everyone on his show ( Perks of being on Disney-owned ABC ) and Clark Gregg appeared on the "Wall of America" as a surprise. His question was whether any of them would consider appearing on the small screen, to which they all said something resembling yes.

Avenger Cameos would likely send the ratings through the roof -- especially if it's not the only one. I can see Marvel persuading the actors to do cameos as part of the movie promotion, and if they get any of the main cast to do it, odds are that RDJ would end up doing one simply to maintain his "I am Marvel, bitches!" supremecy :p

They've already had Samuel L. Jackson on a few times.

Hawkeye has long been rumored because of the Mockingbird angle.

As to her, there's a spin-off series building in the end season of AOS. Rumors include an Inhumans centered show, or one where "Real Shield" morphs into SWORD or some other branch of Shield from comics, and Mockingbird might be moving there ( with a lot of crossover -- especially from Clark Gregg, who is also rumored to crossover with the Netflix shows, and possibly play the Nick Fury role in creating the Defenders )

But . . . but . . . there's always an end-credit teaser!

As long as we're currently using this as the universal geek-out thread, I just saw the official trailer for Batman V. Superman they released early because it had been leaked.

Yikes...

And they're going to try to cram the rest of the Justice League in there too? Shades of Spider-Man 3 and Amazing Spider-Man 2. Danger! Danger!

Reserving judgment because I remember what I thought when they announced Beetlejuice as Batman, and I was spectacularly wrong about that. But still...

Yikes.

I'll await it being shown on TV, after all the media fuss has cooled a bit.

I'll be reserving my tickets in advance for The Force Awakens. I'm trying not to get too hyped up but man, the most recent trailer is not helping.

I'm expecting majestic chaos from Fury Road.

I don't go to the movie theater often, but Fury Road, Star Wars & Avengers ... I'm there.

Nope, and most likely won't see it at all. I've gotten to where all I see these is as milking a cow and by a franchise that's made so much money its sickening they think they need more.

I as probably the perfect age for the first three(I mean 4-6:rolleyes:) Think I was 9/10 when the first came out and early teens for Return of The Jedi. I thought they were great as again I have always seen the movies as aimed more at kids than adults, at least the first series.

When Lucas started with his "but....seeing how successful they were this was really 4-6 here comes 1-3...." I started with the eye rolling.

I saw Phantom Menace and said forget it. Never saw Attack of the Clones and only the end of the last one with the big Vader/ Kenobi showdown. Well done, except for the cheese of "Good guy gotta win"

Had those three came out first? I don't think the series would have been anywhere near as successful.

Now there's more? Now we go backwards more?

Please I don't need to line Lucas pockets and to me they sort of ruin the three originals which I are one of the few good childhood memories I have.

Keep them.

I won't wait in the rain, wind, snow or blistering sun for any movie nowadays.

I will just book my tickets online and head over to the cinema at the weekend. I much prefer seeing films like this with other geeks, here in the UK there is far less chatting (usually zero!) No mobiles chirping away etc when you watch a tentpole movie like this, you give them a another week or so then the annoying general public start to show up to ruin everything.

Already have tickets booked for AVENGERS next week Friday, my son is bouncing off the walls waiting for this and just to piss her off we are dragging my wife along.

Tempted to book tickets for mad Max too, looks healthy and insane should be good dumb fun...it may even make up for the annoying kids from thunderdome!

Exactly, I hate pretentious movies and this looks like a good old fashioned violent bloodbath....turn off the mind and get the popcorn.

A small part of me kind of wants Mel Gibson to have a small cameo somewhere in the movie...

Have him step out of a car looking half crazed and delirious steps up to Charlie Theron and says..."what's your problem sugar tits?"

Followed by a her punching him out cold and nicking his car.
