In the US, you can pay to hunt black people.

The reserve deputy thing I can deal with when it comes to maybe directing traffic and such, but not carrying a gun or being put in a situation where someone is being apprehended.

Oh, I'm pretty sure if no-one had been shot I'd be fucking aghast about the fact that American police departments allow old age pensioners to pay to be allowed to run around with guns playing cop. But, unlike you, I'm not a lying hypocrite.

crazy vigilante people with guns are all over these parts. quite a few of them have serious anger issues. the other weekend, during a town festival, there was a group of people walking around with rifles on their back talking about their extreme right wing views to anyone who would pay them attention. they decided that congregating in the designated children's area was the best place for them to spread their word. the police showed up in their new, heavy duty tank like four wheeler, further occupying the children's area. this, of course, is all within their legal rights, to occupy public children's spaces with their rifles and bullets in your face. if you tell them you feel threatened, they go off on you. it is intimidation around here, pure and simple. there is an arms race going on, and it is neighbor vs neighbor.

The whole country is full of this type of shit.

Idaho--the state where you go to live if you're too much of an asshole to stand even rural Northern California, Southern Oregon or the entire State of Washington outside of Seattle but are too lazy to travel to Alaska--for example, allows you to "tree" wild game, which is illegal in states with sane people whose lives are not motivated entirely by penis envy.

One of the employees of my state's Fish and Game department went to Idaho, did the manly thing of shooting an exotic animal that had precisely no chance of surviving or escaping--at this point, "hunting" is just a weird word to use to describe this activity--and took pictures of himself dancing around with the animal's corpse.

When the pics went viral and sane members of the public wanted his crazy ass out of office, who do you think he blamed? If you guess is Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, you're correct.

We're fucked. Seriously. We're like five minutes from living on the set of a George Miller film.

If you can't tell the difference between a firearm and a taser before you use it, you shouldn't be using either.

i've been told before that i am a stupid idiot for not arming myself and my home. i have been told by self proclaimed religious people, i deserve to get shot when my home is invaded, because i refused to defend myself.
