I'm a veteran...and not a defense contractor. I know better than to let republicans run shit, they are wholly AGAINST my interest as a freedom loving American and as a veteran of foreign wars.

Depends on who else was running. I would have voted for her against Obama (and not because he's black--because I didn't think he was ready for it yet--but would be with more experience--and I think I was right about that). In fact, I might have considered voting for McCain, if he hadn't been an idiot about the vice president candidate he accepted.
But against anyone else rumbling about running as of now? Yes, I'd vote for Hillary. I'd like to vote for Eleanor Roosevelt, but she didn't stick around long enough. Would have voted for Adlai Stevenson if he hadn't pooped out before I was old enough to vote.

Nobody is going to vote for Hillary in the general because she is not going to be the nominee. At this point in the 2008 cycle, she was also the "putative nominee" and "inevitable." And then a guy from Chicago who had some banking connections and a way with pretty words wiped the fucking floor with her and her incompetent staff.
Hillary's problems are that she's just completely unlikable and she runs shitty campaigns.
And the Chicago mayoral election should make her nervous. Chicago--the cradle of neoliberal, DLC, Clintonista bullshit--just put her sycophant Rahm through the first run-off for a mayoral incumbent in the city's history, he spent more money than God, and he barely won the run-off and lost most of his allies in city government.
If a person with a competent staff and a populist message and a personal image that doesn't effortlessly remind voters of the Wicked Witch of the West runs against her, she will lose.

Hillary isn't evil, just stupid (something you failed to mention perhaps b/c you have that trait in common).
Also, I might vote for her, only b/c I have yet to see signs the GOP have a better candidate planned. (Pronounce those initials, & it's nearly the swallowing sound they all make when seeing who they've nominated to run against the Dem.)
