Does anyone here think we should trust Iran?

I doubt anything meaningful has been asked of them, so no "trust" is required. They have, no doubt, solemnly promised that until they actually build a bomb they will only make material and will not assemble it into a bomb until they do.

They haven't wavered in their resolve to continue spinning those centrifuges through two administrations. Bush got nowhere with them, Obama is willing to agree to whatever they want so that he can claim that he accomplished something.

The true believers will celebrate his "agreement" whatever it looks like, and it will (on purpose) not only have no mechanism to verify anything, it won't have any requirements that the Iranians won't want to more or less meet anyway.

Anything to back this up?

An agreement like this wouldn't be worth anything. Hate Obama as much as you want, but he won't be THAT dumb.

So do you believe them?

Of course no-one trusts Iran - and Iran trusts no one on the other side of the deal, and that includes, China, Russia and India; all nuclear powers with an interest in limiting their spread. And they are a damn sight closer to the potential action than the USA.

If the US Senate rejects this deal, it's not only in Tehran that they will look stupid.
It is not just a deal between the USA and Iran.

Why would the Senate look stupid if they reject the deal?

My understanding is that this deal is not a formal treaty, therefore the US Senate has nothing to do with it.

Why would the Senate look stupid if they reject the deal?

Because they won't change anything of the danger that Iran gets the bomb, except that Iran has less to lose in the end.

Rejecting the deal by the US makes the US the warmongers, the blockheads, the no-trusters.

Why would the Senate look stupid if they reject the deal?

Not because it is perfect, far from it, but it's the best outcome available. If the USA walks away then China and Russia will both gain huge advantage in dealing with the Moslem world.

And there is no plan B - perhaps you could atriculate one?

Iran wants the embargo lifted.....after that, open season

Once we lift the economic sanctions their economy will boom (no pun intended). That's not good for any of the good guys.

What?? I asked you why it would make the Senate look bad if they rejected the deal.

I'll articulate a plan - reinstate the sanctions, walk away from the table and don't give them a damn thing. When they start behaving like it's the 21st century we can talk to them.

The last time the Iranian economy boomed (1999-2000) the Iranians elected a moderate government that downplayed the influence of the mullahs.

This, of course, was a disaster for the Israeli Likkud ("Nazi") party, whose platform is "all war, all teh time".

The Iranians were scared shitless after Dubya declared Iran responsible for the Saudi hijackers on 9/11 and went running back to the mullahs, who have worked tirelessly since to make sure the reforms of 1999 nevar happen again.

We already talk to them.

you are the only Nazi here, fat man

Ronald Reagan trusted Iran enough to give them 1500 Stinger missiles.

LMAO

I absolutely do NOT understand the St.Ronnie fantasies of the RW....it's a bizzare (to me anyhow) phenomenon so many people collectively point blank IGNORE EVERYTHING the guy ACTUALLY did....then created some total fantasy super hero figure out of the guy in his place.

I mean I know it happens in other situations but the St.Ronnie Ron The Phenomenon has to to be one of the most stark and blatant examples in politics.
