The came to me via Facebook. I know some folks here will get a chuckle or three, even though it's not strictly an Author thing. Really makes you wonder what those monks were drinking (or what they were licking off their paint brushes?).

And, if I were a monk stuck in a "scribarium" for umpteen hours a day, I think I would start to have a little fun with my work too. I guess editors weren't quite so strict back then, either - let things slip through the brush strokes...
