The Affordable Care Act has drastically cut the rate of uninsured Americans by a third–16 million people–according to numbers released today.

The number of uninsured Americans has dropped by 16.4 million since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, according to numbers released today. From the time that open enrollment began in October 2013 to present, the rate of uninsured Americans decreased by 35 percent. That is the biggest improvement in 40 years.

"I think there's a lot to be done in terms of affordability in the delivery system, delivering better quality at a better price," said Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Mathews Burwell, sitting with a small group of reporters at Google's offices in Washington, D.C., this morning. "That's a place where we can and should make a good amount of progress." But the remainder of her report was one of unprecedented success.

Minorities and young adults have seen the biggest gains in access to health care. The number of newly insured people includes 2.3 million who gained insurance when the law expanded coverage to those under 26, and 14.1 million from from Medicaid expansion, increased insurance through employers, and individuals purchasing through exchanges.

There are 36 states that could participate. I bet that would have an effect.

That's excellent news.

I'm sure Contrifan32 will be along shortly to lecture us on how we cannot trust government numbers while a colored man resides in the White House.

Shit...now if we manage to feed/house some extra homeless folks the GOP will just come apart at the seams.

I think it was Colbert that said something about a gun that shoots sandwiches at poor people and the right wing would just mass auto suicide?

Yea...something like that.

Great.... oh yeah be sure to remember it IS "under penalty of law".

So is practically every fuckin' thing under the sun....what's your point?

Simple.. don't pat yourself on the back for the "great accomplishment" when in essense you're holding a gun thier head.

First, Why should anybody believe any numbers released by HHS? Second, how many of those new recipients are illegals and, third, how many were dragooned into buying insurance through threat of penalty?

Does holding a gun to their head decrease the accomplishment somehow?

Point is there are 35% less uninsured assholes leeching the system than there were under your teams rules of free for all ER gang fuck the tax payer.

I mean either way we are getting galactically fucked in the wallet for HC.....I mean ripped the fuck off b/c broken US system. But at least 35% fewer uninsured is a negative how?

Or is this just more rage because Obamacare isn't making the fabric of time space unravel the way you and your GOP buddies claimed it would.....??

It's all we got...sorry, FOX/Brietbart/Americanthinker don't have the "REAL" numbers...despite the "Unnamed Sources" claims to the contrary...

Good question....

And why does that matter? People do/do not do things under threat of penalty much to your approval all fucking day every fucking day.....why is this different?

Considering the lies associated with Obamacare already, why should we believe any good news from HHS? I also wonder how many of those people wanted to keep the policies they had, as they were told they could, then had to replace them with more expensive ones. Are those people included in the figures being cited?

The article says more minorities and young people are being covered. Is that first category a code word for illegal aliens? How many of those "young people" were forced into buying policies they didn't want and will never need.

40,995,558 people are currently uninsured according to debt-clock.org.

So you can't answer my question and just want to cry about some folks who had their insurance dropped b/c it was lame and didn't meet the ACA standard?

noted....

No....it's a code word for minorities.

You people are forced into buying all kinds of bull fucking shit they don't want and will never need.

Now back to my question...

Don't worry too much...as soon as (R) gets enough power I have no doubt you and yours will make your dreams come true and shit can ACA then do all they can to make sure those numbers skyrocket.

Who pays for yours again? Ever gonna have the balls to answer that?

The fact that MILLIONS more are covered is a great thing.....imagine what it could be if the republicans would concern themselves with the needs of the majority of this country for a change..

Nothing like making up stats. Anyone care to verify the truth of them? I thought so.

You don't like the gummint figures, so you derp about them being "made up".

Do you have anything to back up your claim that these figures are somehow falsified?

A real man makes a charge, he should be able to back it up.

Do you believe everything the gov. tells you? Only a damnfool does. That's not to say they ALWAYS lie, but they do often enough that you can't believe anything they say without proof.

I can't prove these figures are falsified, but I don't have to. Generally speaking, when somebody makes a self-serving statement, as HHS is doing here, they are obligated to prove it.

A real man makes a statement, he should be able to back it up.

The figures are backed up by insurance companies own figures. You can look it up if you're so inclined. Or, you know, keep shouting "LALALALALALALA" with your fingers in your ears.
