I'm working on this damn Toyota engine to replace the timing belt. To hold the rotating assembly in place while loosening the crank pulley bolt, it says to remove the starter and use a big screwdriver to block the movement by jamming it into the flywheel's teeth.


The starter is a bitch to remove. The oil pan is not, and a hammer handle stuck between a crank throw and the block will hold it forever, if need be.
