So, the Chicago Guantanamo Bay.

busybody made a thread, but he's an asshole so fuck him.

and honestly i have no idea why no one is giving a shit about this. i'd say it's disheartening, but i'm too jaded for that.

The more I read about it, the worse it gets.

We want information. We will water board you, tell you that we raped your mother, stack your naked ass in a pyramid, have dogs snarl at you and pull up your shrubs.

Who better suited to do that job than the men in blue that have done it successfully in Chicago for decades?

That's living in Amerika now. I could see this day coming when they passed the Patriot Act and started the Department of Homeland (Fatherland) security. The Constitution and Constitutional rights mean nothing now. Americans are so afraid and offended by everything they are willingly giving up freedoms for perceived security and safety.

This is a totally different country than what I grew up in, and when I try to explain it to uninformed younglings, they don't understand.

yeah, the chicago connection is definitely part of my blah reaction. that town is just... fuck it. it's just kind of a fascist shithole.

How is there not massive outrage about this? I came across the story while flicking through The Guardian, I would have expected it to be huge news.

For those who never get booked or prosecuted, there may seem to be little recourse. But, in fact, someone should have filed suit long ago, and it would seem to be a mystery why attorneys haven't gone screaming to the media in great numbers.

Bizarre.

Cook County, home of Chicago, has received some 1,700 pieces of military equipment from a much-criticized Pentagon program transferring military gear to local police.

Also troubling to me. I don't see any good coming from the federal government militarizing police departments.

Yea but Obamacare is unconstitutional, ISIS is talking shit so WWIII, and what about gay rights?

Seriously...America is just fucking stupid.

The more I read about it, the worse it gets.

BUTT KIM KARDASHIAN!! Seriously fuckin' retarded.....4 cereal.

*reads*

Follow the money ? Who paid for this obscenity ?

Chicago is a notorious uber libural spot only to be out liburhuld by NYCommie and SocialistFranciso. So if you follow that trail there is a distinctly strong possibility the pockets on either end have (D) in front of their name. I however suspect we will hear very little about this unless a big name picks it up off the floor and starts beating other big names to death with it. If no one does that will speak volumes about the status of our police state.

Money....justifies expenditure, without it the GOP's welfare programs get shut down and terrorist will slit grandmas throat in the night and IED Miss. Kitty while you're at work. The Police NEED this gear and training to meet the modern threats America faces today, like ISIS who is stalking your loved ones RIGHT NOW.

TERROR!!!! LOL

Sad thing is it fucking WORKS!!

I wonder if the DOJ will investigate. If half of what the Guardian article alleges is true, it should be a slam dunk. This will be interesting to follow.

Let me see well over 50+ years of lib being totally in charge of that city and whining about the other party and d the terrible things then would do if elected, you give a single party a 3 generation rule and you really think they will not run wild with the total control they have?

In general the voters seem to prefer a split control of the government. For the feds one party in the White house and a different one controlling the Congress.

Chicago seemed unwilling or incapable of delivering the split between the mayors office and the city counsel that may have been able to stop those in control of running rough shod over the people of the city and their rights.

I am a proponent of a split party control in government. Had the conservatives been in control as the libs have been in control for the same duration we may well have much the same thing as Chicago is now discovering.

Chicago has been a shit hole of political corruption since the 1920s, during the term of their last Republican mayor. Some in the last couple of years they issued a crack down on crime. In the first week end following he crack down there were 100 murders.

All power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Col. H. Do you think there might be sufficient commonality of evidence to support a class action?

Jail is the nigger's natural habitat. Think of these places as preserves.

I wouldn't think so. Class actions tend to involve a group whose commonality is determined by contractual agreements like property owners, social clubs or pension plan members.

The key component of class actions seems to be the consistency of the alleged detrimental impact on the individuals within the class particularly as it relates to the non-performance or duty which the respondent supposedly owed.

In this instance, I think the offending behaviors from so many different officers in relation to so many different "criminal" circumstances in which the arrests and detentions occurred would result in too great a variance to make a class action recovery practical or appropriate.

But I'm not a lawyer, so I could be way off.
