Now that I've got your attention, I need someone who can repair a pull in a sweater for me.

I'll be happy to send a picture of the damage and pay a reasonable amount for your skill.

A  from the good little witch.

check out any yarn store near you that offers a weekly sit-in where the ladies all sit and drink tea while they visit and knit or crochet. There is bound to be someone who will say.. "oh honey.. all you have to do is... "
We ran into this in December when the edges of my son's hat began to curl. They were so excited to have someone new that they didn't even charge him.
Around here, you would google "knitting shop" to find a list. Each of them has a schedule on the website.

Good luck!

I live in a very small town. Even the big ones near me don't have such things.

I'm very tempted to just wear it and if anyone comments, say "Oh, no! When did that happen?"

So no kindly grandmothers around who knit for the grandkids who hate that itchy scarf or that sweater that is three sizes too big?

Anyone who has basic sewing/mending/knitting skills should be able to fix your snag. My mom did it all the time when I was growing up, and there really isn't much depth to her sewing knowledge. Have you tried googling and following the instructions on "how to fix a snag in a sweater" already?

Other than that, do you have a friend, neighbor or merchant who might be able to fix your snag? You said you don't have any yarn or quilting shops locally, but how about fabric stores, or even a craft store with a fabric section? Seamstresses? A retired lady who enjoys knitting? Put up a flyer at your local community center, library, general store, etc.?

I got this. :)

Get thee a needle threader such as the one in the web address above. Cost from .35 cents to $15.00 for same basic product.

Poke needle half way into sweater next to snag.
Push threader into eye of needle moving toward snag.
Place snag into large opening of threader.
Pull threader, with snag, through eye of needle and then drop threader.
Pull needle, now threaded with snag, the rest of the way down through sweater.
Snag should now be on inside of sweater.
Leave as is or secure with simple stitches.

It's a pull across the entire front of the sweater. {Before dressing there was a skirmish between said sweater and an unhooked bra tossed on top of it and apparently the bra emerged victorious.} I can repair a simple snag. This is going to require skill and finesse.

Thank you for all your help.

Sorry. Above trick is about all I Can do. For things requiring skill and finesse I usually:

Stomp foot.
Place item of clothing in plastic bag to take to seamstress or tailor.
Place bag in back corner of closet.
Do not open bag until contents are out of style or no longer fit.
Take bag to Goodwill.
Go shopping.

This isn't quite as good as the laundry discussion but, again, you helped make a 10F day a bit brighter.
Oh and by the way, most of those little ladies in the knit shops have a big bottle of Cabernet in the back room.....

I'm needing closure here, did you pretend it wasn't there, and wear the sweater anyway?;)

It's been much too cold to wear the sweater. I still haven't quite decided what I'm going to do yet. I keep checking the sweater but so far it hasn't spontaneously mended itself.

Creative use of ribbons.

Darn it, I can't believe it isn't a mend-itself kind of sweater.

Update:

I tried the technique shown on the youtube video this evening and it looks pretty darned good! It's definitely wearable again ~ and maybe the weather will cooperate, too.
