They're the ones who wrote the book. Which says the united Kingdom of Israel-Judah almost certainly never existed. Their existence as separate kingdoms can be confirmed from extra-Biblical evidence, but not as a united kingdom at any point. The Exodus never happened either, it would have left physical evidence (and Egyptian historical records) to this day if it had. Finkelstein and Silberman's theory is that after the Assyrians destroyed Israel, refugee priests fled to Judah and invented a national myth for propaganda purposes. In those days conquest was held to establish better title to territory than indigenous occupation, therefore the Israelites were retconned as the conquerors of Canaan, when it is far more likely they simply had been there about as long as their neighbors (there is a very ancient site of settlement near Jerusalem, much older than any plausible date for Exodus, that differs from sites of equal antiquity in other parts of Canaan in its lack of any pig bones; apparently at some point very early, the ancestors of the Hebrews/Israelites/Jews decided not to eat pork).
