I want to search a users posts. Everything I try doesn't work. When I use the search button above it only tells me every post that person's name is mentioned. Just curious.

Go to advanced search. You can search for posts by username.

Go to the Search Forums page, either by using the top line menu and selecting "Advanced Search" or use the Forum Jump menu and select Search Forums.

Then enter the first letters of the username in the username window. It should come up with a list to select from. Choose the name you want, select your preferences, then click the Search Now button.

Another way is to find one post, then click on the name and select the option to find more posts. Or open the user's public profile and find links there for posts and threads.

Go to search listed in link at top of page, then advanced search. Type in TroubledOne in user name. :D

I'm pretty sure it means sub-forums. Poor terminology.
It's programming speak. A process spawned by another process is called a child process, so you have a parent and child process. The people who wrote the forum code I'm sure just carried over the terminology.

But I do get your point, particularly in how it might be perceived on a forum like lit.

Next up: About Average explains the benefits and pitfalls of "forking a child". ;)
