Find out exactly who they are, and cross check anything they say.
If they are willing, get them to send you a photo of their license, then check it against criminal records.
Do a zaba search and check that every place they lived is what they have told you. Do not tell them you are doing this before hand.
Double check their phone numbers. See if you can interact with one or more of their friends, preferably ones they have known since kindergarten. Check them out too.
I did this with Byron and everything checked out 100%. Of course I wasn't meeting him just for sex and he still could have killed me in a game of thrones rage, but at least people would know right where to find him

Hinton man wanted for murder in N.M.

A Hinton man is being sought by New Mexico authorities in connection with the slaying a 33-year-old Colorado woman whose remains were found in a shallow grave.
U.S. marshals and Taos County, N.M., authorities are searching for Ivan Dennings Cales, 50, formerly of Hinton. Cales, who authorities described as a homeless drifter, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Roxanne Houston of Colorado Springs. An arrest warrant and other information about his alleged involvement in the killing are sealed until his arrest, officials with the Taos County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
The relationship between Cales and Houston has not been released, nor has any a motive, authorities said Monday, although it appears the two shared a home with Houston's boyfriend. How she died, who buried her in a shallow grave, and Cales' alleged role in her death are also unanswered questions.
A criminal complaint gives only scant details, alleging Cales murdered Houston on or about June 13, the last time she was seen alive by friends.
The complaint continues that Houston left her home without telling anyone. Her boyfriend said it was unusual for her as she was employed in Taos as a caretaker and left behind a loyal dog, according to a missing person's report.
Houston's body was found by hikers in a shallow grave near Carson, N.M., on Christmas Day.
Media outlets in Taos are reporting that Cales was interviewed prior to Feb. 12 after in late January a Jeep once belonging to him was seized for forensic testing. Authorities have not released the results of the testing, but believe Cales has left the state since his interview.
"We do not believe that Cales is still in the Taos area and have asked the U.S. Marshals Service to take the lead for the manhunt," Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe told local media outlets two weeks ago.
Authorities said Cales moved to Taos last summer. An online community for the Rainbow Family Gathering states he moved to the upscale, artistic community to start a new life, introducing himself as a "survivalist but not the nut job hoarding food and ammo type." He also mentioned his past work in construction and landscaping.
It is not known why Cales left West Virginia, but a series of messages on social media details a child custody dispute is why he no longer lives in the Mountain State.
New Mexico judicial authorities said the arrest warrant for Cales was sealed to preserve evidence and protect witnesses.
