I'm heading from San Jose, through LA, Flagstaff, St Louis, and Indianapolis in the next 2-3 weeks.

Any recommendations on where to go and what to stay away from?

I have nothing to contribute, I just wanted to say hi.

Hiya Heavy!

Parts of St Louis are decidedly dicey, double check with a local.

A friend of mine's mom's body parts were found outside of Flagstaff, but she was probably killed in Colorado.

That's not a road trip...

Sticky!

Come drive by my place.

Now that's a road trip!

What? Does that have to do with the ivantheterrible killing that we were talking about?

No, someone much brighter than Ivan.

Her mom was killed by her second husband who has yet to be caught. Apparently, according to the FBI, this is how the man makes his living. It's a well drawn out game, her mom had several "good" years with this guy before the fighting started, and she started to leave the house for short periods of time. She owned the house, but had added his name to it. Then one day she left the house and never came back. After a while her husband had a yard sale, and then put the house on the market, sold everything and left. Some hikers discovered her body parts a couple years after her disappearance.

He marries women with adult children that don't live nearby and women who have money and property. A real smooth, charming guy. Retired "clean" background, no kids or relatives. He waits, then at a certain point he starts gas lighting and making the women seem unstable, then he starts the fights. Sets things up so there are public disagreements and the woman takes a walk to calm down.

If you're getting your kicks on Route 66, Delgadillo's Snow Cap Drive-In in Seligman, Arizona can be fun for lunch.

Don't take a left at Albuquerque unless you plan on visiting Denver. Or you can give me a call when you cruise through town.

In St Louis there's a neighborhood called the Hill, that is full of Italian restaurants, delightfully smells like garlic. Go eat there.
