Were you a fan of the original series? The later ones? Both? Neither?

it's trekkie. trekker just sounds stupid. also, the fact that they cared enough to come up with a supposedly more serious name for it is just lame.

and i am indeed a fan. i just don't take my fandom all that seriously. after enterprise that pretty much became impossible.

I quite agree. I liked trek, had to defend Spock, given I looked like his nephew, especially when I had a Bieber haircut.

I was more a Star Wars fan.

I married a "trekker" who assured me that "trekkie" is an insult. "Insulting a trekkie" sounded redundant to me.

She was also into the later stuff, I was OK with it, a reasonable shared experience but I was never that into it. I was not going to talk in acronyms... "Well, on TNG they always...."

Definitely and Old Trek fan. I like TNG too, because it was smarter & better written, but the Old Trek broke rules and had a cultural impact that is unmatched by any of its successor series. Plus Spock.

I once tried to game out which universe had better battle fleets, Star Trek or Star Wars.

Star Wars junkies cannot answer this poll.
Sad.
Fascinating...

Illogical to be sad in general, and more so since you have options.

"Wookies are awesome" (T.his is a correct answer.

...and (incorrectly stated) "C3PO pwns Spock."

I was a fan of the original series. I used to walk about a mile and a half to my uncle's house to watch it every week (I didn't have a TV).
I made a phaser in woodworking class in 8th grade.

When I did it all i had to go on was photos from the book The Making of Star Trek, so I had to guestimate all the dimensions.

I also had various of the insignia, 35mm frames from the editing room floor, and assorted other "fan" items.
I watched Next Generation but not as religiously as the original.

Star Trek started a lifelong love affair with Sci Fi. A few years ago I bought the original series on DVD and watched it again while sharing it with my teenage kids. They loved it too. Since then we have been through all the later versions. It was an amazing and ground breaking series.

I was a TNG fan all the way. I did really enjoy the original series as well but they were all reruns for me.
