Just saying... 'Cause I got some but I won't stick links here because it might be construed as spam.

Which it isn't because this is everywhere in the 'brain-storming' sessions of the big companies right now - except they haven't got anything seriously kick-ass yet.

..But I do.

And it WILL affect all writers of erotica.

Would you be kind enough to inform those of us too ancient & dim to know anything about these things please?
i.e.., What the 'eck is it about ?

Porn under your command. The camera and actions are under your control. More immersive - blocks out external stimuli (3D goggles).

It will not affect us as much as the OP thinks. There is a ton of free porn already available and it doesn't seem to hinder the written word. The only thing that would hurt Literotica is a better Literotica.

"Soon" apparently. ;)

One wonders, though, if the upgrades will address what comes up frequently on the forums. The last upgrade didn't.

Are you speaking of environments like Second Life?

That is just the beginning. Think of it as a movie where you are immersed into the set, directing the action, the camera angle, and the ability to add any element you desire. It will not necessarily involve other people like second life requires.

Think holodeck, but clunky as hell.

I wasn't thinking of 'negatively effecting...'

Ahh, strange how that was the first thing that came to my mind. I guess I am too old to appreciate augmented reality as anything but useless a time waster. I have to get back to Civ V now.

As someone who knows something about software... don't hold your breath for anything that's going to redefine sexuality, or even erotic lit, from the tech sector.

There are exactly 3 directions virtual electrosex can go.

1. Sex with someone else, remotely. This started with erotic letter writing, then phone sex, then videocam sex, then remote control online vibrators... tech will continue to improve and someday you'll have an experience something like actual sex online, but way worse, because real sex is interactive and happens in real time and the internet isn't actually real time. You'd be surprised what a 500ms delay can do to arousal. And if you're a female and want something other than a vibrating rod in the usual place, expect to shell out major dollars for all the attachments needed to even approximate sex from anything other than a 15 year old.

2. Sex with yourself, amped by virtual reality, where you control the action. The problem with this is that you can't actually focus on controlling the action while consuming the content. It would be like bring the porn star and the director and camera crew all at once. You don't have enough neurons to make it work. Consider the frustration of pausing and replaying a video today - and that's at least something you can direct with one hand.

3. Sex with an AI. All the expense of (1), but with the lag issue solved. Instead: bugs, generic content that won't work for you, bizarre content that will have you diving for the off switch, amusing prospects for hacktivism, and a kind of alienation that you just can't get from current porn. Don't get me wrong, combine a sybian with the right kind of visuals from an occulus and gentle stroking in a few key places and you'll have an orgasmatron. But how different is that really than a date with a vibrator and a movie? Other than price tag?

None of this will ever replace the written word. It's the ability to fire the imagination - instead of overwhelm it or simply dismiss it - that makes erotica work

"It's the ability to fire the imagination..."

Yep.

..but technology is an amazing thing.

Trust me, Horatio, there are more things in Heaven and on Earth, etc.
