“I don’t (see) this President as being particularly a product of African-American society or something like that. He isn’t,” the former mayor added. “Logically, think about his background. . . The ideas that are troubling me and are leading to this come from communists with whom he associated when he was 9 years old” through family connections.

When Obama was 9, he was living in Indonesia with his mother and his stepfather. Giuliani said he was referencing Obama’s grandfather having introduced him to Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Communist Party.

The fact that anyone even bothers to quote him amazes me, Giuliani outside the response to 9/11 is one of the biggest whackjobs this country ever produced. As US attorney, he was a comic book character, he and his buddy Al D'Amato wearing body armor while 'visiting' a drug operation in washington heights. The same man that is calling Obama a communist because of his calls for regulating business, especially Wall Street, is the man as US attorney who would grandstand, arresting Wall Street types in their offices and dragging them out in handcuffs in front of the cameras, and portraying himself as 'cleaning up wall street' (for the record, most of his prosecutions ended up with him losing, and many of those he won were overturned on appeal, not a great record). He is a man who married his own cousin, got the marriage annulled, then got married again, had kids, then was toodling around with another woman, and basically announced his divorce in front of the TV cameras, which is how his wife found out about it, married wife number 3....and then suddenly, became this big advocate for family values, supported a constitutional amendment banning same sex couples, talked about the 'sanctity of marriage'; meanwhile, the fucker after his divorce was living with a gay couple who were big supporters of his, and that is how he thanked them.Then, too, all he does is knock the government, when a large part of his career has been spent employed by the government, and his current company offering 'security consultation' mostly gets its contracts because of his ties to the government.....and we are supposed to listen to him?

I'm amazed he left out Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright and chickens coming home to roost. I mean holy shit one would think after seven plus years that at least there would be something new to say. I love how people continually dig back to the Soviet Union which despite failing it's largest remnant, Russia is still probably the closest thing we have to a threat followed by China. Tell me, where are these prosperous nations mimicking our system or better yet the system you want since nobody is actually talking about attempting what the USSR did, just that its time for a different mix for our mixed economy.

The gap between the 1% and the rest of us is growing, the middle class has been decreasing for the better part of 30 years so while Obama may have done little to fix it and while it's dishonest if you want to claim he exasperated the situation rather than circumstances outside his control fine. I mean it's happening globally that the rich are basically in the final laps but Obama is secretly emperor of Earth, has been since 1988 and I'm just too stupid to see it. But if only he'd release his college transcripts we would see how he outlined his plans for world domination.

We need a new mix that give more people better chances at success.

A more mixed economy with less emphasis on "capitalism" than we currently have. A better education and health care system would be a wonderful place to start. We should probably shorten the official work week by at least five hours. There's an article out there right now about how Salaried workers are often bent over the barrel, but there are lots of things we COULD do.

You would call it socialism and that's just fine by me. But it would just be a new kind of Mixed Economy. And nobody seems to have a more official term than Mixed Economy for what the US has, and it's the proper term for most of Europe though Republicans like to call it European style socialism so if that's what you want to call it, yeah I'd like some more of what they're having.

So you'd like to be like the Europeans? You think Socialism is the answer to a more productive and free economy, when all of human history says differently? You think it would be better to have the government allocating resources and controlling the direction of the means of production in the economy? Do you think the goal of economy should be egalitarian in nature and not a meritocratic?

I'm not interested in a more free economy, and clearly they are still productive. So yes, more of what they have. Human history has not shown Europe falling apart recently.

Yes, I think the it would be better to have the government allocating MORE resources than it currently does. IT's not as if it's not already doing it. Outside of MAYBE the oil industry I can't think of a single means of production that would make any sense to hand over to the government but I'd be willing to hear the case if someone pointed on out.

Our economy is NOT meritocratic in the least, nor do we make any great pains to make it such. The best way to get rich is to be born rich and we all know how rigged the game is. So for the millionth time the goal is not equal outcomes but MORE equal opportunity than is currently afforded. Perfection isn't even possible there. There is no substitute at all for having parents who can teach you the ways of the world, who can open doors for you that you can't open for yourself, yadda, yadda, yadda. But we can make the race less one sided.
