Did you know that Disgustipated is this stoopit?

You must think very highly of me to think that I've "delivered". Thank you for that.

You may now commence with the brute-force posting to this thread. After all: Internet Rule #7, the more posts you post, the more correct you must be.

Nope I am just having fun rubbing your nose in the fact that you typed out the following then posted a link to prove yourself wrong.

Mean, median and mode are all mathematical averages.

Luk does not get to "allude." Allude would not be in his vernacular, neither would median.

She still has not corrected the only error that Luk would have spotted at the time. Believe me, he has excoriated me as a "dummy!' on many occasion for similar egregious errors:

should read:

I am approximately 98.73296% certain that that was the big "gotcha" he had in mind when he posted:

Unless someone pointed out median to him at the time.

You want to wager $10 to our favorite charity that Luk cannot within a minute of reading this post elucidate the difference between mean, median and mode?

You will notice that Luk has still not attempted to make some sort of cogent edit on his scramble. I would be amused to see his next draft given a day to think about it.

Honestly I had no idea that he is this stupid. I pay very little to his posts since they typically are quicky jabs, cheap shots. I barely paid any attention to his "dunce cap" posts because by then I was getting bored of him.

If it were a vocabulary error, I would not have corrected it when I saw it today. (Speaking of auto correct, I tried to only type the first 2 syllables of vocabulary but it keeps changing it to vocal)

You clearly understood the concept of median. I should have said at worst it is an error of vocabulary, but not one of reasoning. I didn't know you had corrected it.

I was waiting yesterday for his grand reveal (that never came) so I could point out to him there was a more interesting error if one was inclined to nit-pick.

Different platforms have different auto-correcting, spellcheck or predictive engines leading to really interesting errors. On the thread about dilemma I was trying to think of an example where (in my case spellcheck) would suggest a word that is quite similar but wrong usage. Median and medium is a very good example. I was thinking of affect and effect but I can't really see that happening since you start the word correctly or not.

I think it should be "Rubbing the fact on your nose".

*ducks*

#grammarnazi

Wait, come back. I am curious about this comment. "Rubbing your nose in _______" is the colloquialism I would want to use as well. I am embarrassed to admit I am not sure why her finishing with "in the fact" is grammatically incorrect. I admit as I speak it aloud is sounds "wrong," but I can't spot why.

*speaking of errors my y is intermittent and it came out "rubbin our nose in something." That exact error "our" for "your" is specifically one Luk has "caught" me on lately.

I used it referring to "rubbing your nose in shit" such as how one might train a dog. Reversing the order makes no sense.

I don't find the paragraph that poorly written. I understood his meaning. I don't require more than that in written communication. Well thought out and properly spelled prose is appreciated, but not required.

Yes we get his meaning. It is the same in better than 1/3 of his posts: "Dummy."

He should have just typed "Dummy" as per usual... is kind of the point.

I didn't realize you and Funk were a "we". I look forward to Lance's inevitable thread on the topic.

The surest sign that someone has gotten the better of another on Lit is when the latter creates a vanity thread in their honor.

Fucking white privilege.

Are you? How do you even? Okay, I'll admit that when things got rough I've used many things for masturbatory purposes. Might have been some fresh produce and stuffed animals involved, but never white privilege. I'm not dissing it because I'll try anything once, but I'd need a how-to video or something.

'Medium' is a shoe size. 'Median' is an average.

Incorrect. A median is not an average.

Your link just backed me up!

No it didn't...you're just so math illiterate you didn't understand the link.

A median is an average....mean, median, mode and range are all averages, go back to school.

This is where I walk away.

"Medium" is a much more common word than "median" so I highly doubt auto-correct would make such a stoopit error.

Q-Bert, fuck off to the Playground you little troll.

In the initial thread she and I were laughing at Disgustipated fumbling with more than his trademark sentence.

I am relatively sure that she is more woman than I likely can handle at my advanced age. I am also above the median age of her target demographic.

...So there is that.

Disgustipated and I spend a lot of time calling each-other "dummy." He, I assume because it is one of four words I have seen that he knows for "I am smarter than you," and on my part, because I am quite sure that he is an actual dummy. I wonder about people that think differently about that assessment.

There is an old saw about better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you are a dummy than open your mouth and confirm it. Admittedly, he and I are are a polar extremes of the strategies available along that continuum.

She pointed out, and I concur, that he looks a lot less dumb with his single sentence snark attacks then when he actually expresses and actual thought.

So, your assumption is that auto-correct is written to select the more obscure of two words?

I notice that with several hours to study, you have not taken up my challenge to elucidate the meaning of mean, median and mode.

Are you telling me that you were actually correcting "medium?" You knew that was an error?

Color me surprised.
