The armadillo, the alligator, the pelican and the rattlesnake are all having a group cuddle in the snow.

That is perfectly natural. (No. No, it is not perfectly natural.)

The roadrunner hitched a ride with a coyote to Mexico.

Meanwhile, in Alaska, there are no igloos and the sled dogs ran away to Vermont.

No kidding, there's talk of rerouting the Iditarod to start in Fairbanks unless we get a good bit.

Strangely, enough, someone in the 16th century would have commiserated with me, on how topsy turvy the weather is.

Building a restaurant on the frozen Thames, and serving hot meals, is not something that happens every year.

Then, again, they would have been horrified and fascinated by the creatures that live in the places they do not know about.

(Did Shakespeare make jokes about naked, frozen people that were under the illusion that they were too warm? Or, did he make a joke about post death erections, that were popsicles ?)

The Magnolia and the Weeping Willow wear an unfamiliar coat.
The garden shovel gets to be used for something different.

Grandma's knitted gifts come out of the box.
Layer upon layer, are piled on.

This is what shiver, means.

What is a hot water bottle grandmother ?

cold air moving in behind the ice storm that affected many northern Alabama counties, residents fear Tuesday's high temperatures won't be warm enough to thoroughly melt everything Octavia left behind.

Emergency managers reported ice on trees, buildings and roadways all over northern Alabama Tuesday morning, according to The Associated Press.

Leave Bermuda alone, they have enough problems. /end Ellen Ripley sequence

Nola has a cold Fat Tuesday.

Light freeze conditions are expected near and north of Interstate 12 on Tuesday night and hard freeze conditions could be registered in northern parts of the area on Wednesday night.

Baton Rouge weather

Mardi Gras night ends with lows only in the upper 20s on the Capitol City, as the skies clear and the wind drops off. On Wednesday, sunny skies allow highs to reach the upper 50s before dropping to around 30 overnight.

Will the Washington feds be shut down again tomorrow?

I get so much more work done when the Big Cheeses freeze.

The snow is not finished with DC-

1.5 domes: Slight chance of unscheduled leave, telework option, but more likely normal operations; slight chance of early dismissal due to late afternoon-evening snow squall risk

http://m.washingtonpost.com/blogs/c...ednesday-evening-rush-schoolcast-and-fedcast/

The day starts out mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of flurries or light snow in the late morning and early afternoon that will generate no more than a dusting, if anything. The chance of snow increases in the late afternoon as a vigorous cold front passes through the region. Snow squalls will likely come through the area between 4 and 10 p.m., and could coincide with rush hour. While snow shouldn’t last more than an hour in any given location, it could be heavy and — combined with gusts up to 20 mph — may lead to low visibility on the roads. Snow totals from the squalls could be anywhere from a dusting to 1 inch. Highs are in the mid 20s in the suburbs and low 30s around the city.

Woot!

It snowed in Denver this weekend. In case you were wondering and stuff.

50 tomorrow and 65 on Thursday.

I am getting tired of -35F wind chills, and I need better gloves/mittens.

About 6 inches or so. The ground was warm and there was rain before the snow. That always clouds the accumulation numbers.

Hang in there! :) Spring is just around the corner.

Pretty Springy outside right now!

There are batttery powered gloves and mittens.

There are battery powered hoodies!

Dress until you sweat.

Warm feet!

Cannot fool me. Saint Patricks Day, is when people are half frozen.
If I have six inches of ice covering the garden, again?

No April planting. It will still be thawing out.
Things have changed.
April was first swim of the year, for me.

Noor, I have never seen battery heated gloves or mittens, that heat only the finger tips.
Much like an electric blanket, the arrangement is made to heat the whole glove, or mitten.

The tag on my mittens has Lectra-Glove printed on them.
They were made in Millersburg, Pennsylvania

If you have circulation problems, you might ask your doctor if it is OK to use them.
I am not a doctor, and I would not want you to harm yourself.

50s and 60s here in northern Utah where grass is growing and trees and flowers are starting to bloom. 70s down south.

Watched "Nashville," this week.

It is hard to picture all my favorite television characters from "Nashville" coping with driving through a low visibility snow squall, or coping with an ice storm.

I suppose there would be plentiful and creative cursing, swearing of awful oaths, to be bleeped out.

The cowboy hats would keep the snow off of their heads. Not all of them have chauffeurs. There are humble beginners who still busk for cash.

Where would they get warm socks for their glamorous, custom made cowboy boots ?

There could have been a scene where they watched the Mayor tell them to "Hang in there for one more blast of winter."

A plot bunny was provided by the storm- a tragic accident happens of one of the characters. This would be macabre because the storm did cause deaths in real life.

Mayor Karl Dean warned residents that Nashville isn't out of the woods yet with snow, ice and freezing rain in the forecast.

City officials are preparing for the another round of winter weather, and Dean asked residents to use their discretion when hitting the roads Friday morning.

Winter storm warning issued for Middle Tennessee
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the area from noon Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.

The eastern half of Middle Tennessee may later be placed under an ice storm warning.

Tennessee remains in a State of Emergency. The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has confirmed that 10 people have died from weather-related causes since a winter storm gripped parts of the state with freezing temperatures, snow and icy conditions.

Siberian Express Edition

A wave of polar air will set record low temperatures from Tennessee to Virginia on Thursday and Friday. In Washington, temperatures could drop below zero for the first time since 1994. The entire eastern half of the United States will see below-average temperatures over the next two days. Snow flurries are possible in D.C. tonight and over the weekend, and Sunday's temperatures could reach the 50s. (Capital Weather Gang, twice)

Meanwhile, my new snow will have to wait to be shoveled.

Arctic Blast from the Siberian Express for New England

-15 to -30 wind chill warning for Boston, because of the West wind.

Will warm up to -2f.

More snow/ rain mix or rain expected.

Meanwhile, in Alaska-
" On the north slope of Alaska, temperatures were running an astonishing 40 degrees above average on Thursday morning."

Did it wake up the bears ? Boston has been known to thaw out, in the past. But there was not much worry about bears responding to False Spring.

Cats forget how to cat.
Dogs forget how to dog.

Will you forget how to snow ?

The trees are confused by the warm weather. One good cold snap will take care of that problem.

I read an article somewhere that the warm weather was indeed bringing animals out of hibernation and some animals were even starting to mate which could spell a lot of trouble for the western half of the U.S. if we were to actually get a cold snap.
