Yeah, this is so the story of my life right now regarding food. So many times recently, "You've never had ______!?!" accompanied by a facial expression indicating disbelief and shock.

I grew up with only very specific foods served, almost no variety. And....I'm such a creature of comfort, I mostly stuck with those. I'm working on it, lol.

Well, buy a jar. This will do:

Try it on buttered toast for breakfast. You'll thank me.

What? There's another kind?

Oh goodness, yes. Lime. Clementine. Lemon. Bergamot. Mandarin. Grapefruit...any citrus fruit, really. Plus the variants of champagne, whisky, etc.

We like our marmalade, here in The Old Country.

Well, that's the best selling point, yet.

Okay, how does one eat said orange marmalade (keep in mind I don't eat bread if I can help it).

There's almost no point if you don't like bread in its most common form, but...

Do you like pancakes? You can spread it on those.

(Trying hard not to say 'You don't eat bread?' with a disbelieving expression...)

Steamed marmalade pudding. Stirred into rice and milk puddings. With pancakes.

Marmalade is citrus jam. It was discovered that the pith of oranges causes the jam to set up. (It contains pectin.)

Mostly it is eaten on toast. Not knowing why you avoid bread specifically I don't know if warming it in the microwave and drizzling it on vanilla ice cream is an option for you but t is recommended.

"What should we do with all the orange peels left over from making this orange juice?"

"I have an idea. We could chop 'em up and toss 'em into some orange jelly!"

"Make it so."

Too complicated boys. Marmalade in its simplest explanation has all the seeds and skins and funky shit in it that other jams and jelly's purposely remove.

It's an acquired texture.

It tastes fine.

About bread, I love bread. Fresh baked bread, still hot with butter melting all over the place could easily be my favorite thing to eat. (I almost typed "to put in my mouth" but...).

Bread does not like me, actually it's wheat that has it out for me. This is not a trendy gluten thing, it's a diagnosed sensitivity that actually results in severe inflammation and ultimately immobility. It sucks. Bread, pasta, cookies...

The paleo trend has helped me find some cool recipes, though.

Dang. That does suck.

How are you with shellfish?

Yes, I've tried most of those. Orange is the best, but I liked bergamot, just because it was something new to me.

Fucking rain.

Nothing worse than rain in winter. Except windblown rain. Supposed to be up to 65mph at my house.

"Mostly cloudy with isolated rain showers. Lows in the 30s. Southeast wind 15 to 30 mph decreasing to 15 mph after midnight. Local gusts to 40 mph in the evening. Along turnagain arm and the hillside...southeast wind 40 to 55 mph with gusts to 65 mph diminishing to 15 to 30 mph after midnight."

as to not further bump shit,

i do not fancy myself a healer, nor have i claimed so. had i those skills, my life would make more sense than what it does. a set path with clear guides. i am simply making my way through, questioning and examining, reflecting and creating, a little each day. were i on the battlefield, i'd not be a nurse, but a make believe poet lost with gun, most likely to turn it on myself in time of stress.
