Yes. ^^^ This is an unwritten rule of life in countless scenarios. Walk away gracefully and at a point where people remember you for what you've contributed and in a positive light.

Seems so simple yet so many people have a hard time following through with that simple action.

*Also Notice that I wrote "contributed" and not "accomplished" Key.To*****.

Agreed

I don't like Baldwin at all, but the Jeopardy sketch was hysterical with him playing Tony Bennett talking into the buzzer.

The few times I've seen him on talk shows in the last few years was just sad.

Lennon was a complex guy and you have to get beyond the " Ono Fairy Tale" perpetuated by Elliot Mintz for all those years.
I will say if he believed something he believed it all the way, and when it no longer served him a week or a year later he had no reservations dropping it and moving on.
He was also painfully honest in his music.
Rumor has it Sir Paul wrote "Silly Love Songs" in response to a comment from Lennon, who when asked if he had heard McCartneys new album said something like " What is it, more silly love songs?"

lol.. ahhhhhh, interesting. I had not heard that before.

Ahh, would love to sit and chat all day on lit but I have get moving. Unlike so many today, I have to work.

Have a good day Tath. :)

I see 1001 viewing the GB, but all the others are normalish (11, 24, etc). Is the GB that engaging? Can you imagine if everyone was posting?

Down to 131 now. But in looking at that I got distracted and work-avoidy, and noticed a few other things - the total number of posts in the PG and GB is, unsurprisingly, way beyond any other forum, but PG is considerably but not vastly ahead: 16,128,448 against 15,494,613. But the number of threads is hugely higher in the GB - 452,929 versus 167,053. In fact, the number of threads in the GB dwarfs the total number of threads from all other fora, including Chyoo, foreign language, etc: the total number of threads outside the GB is 398,801.

This suggests either that PG threads are far more interesting and engaging than GB ones, with an average of 96.5 posts per thread as opposed to the GB's lowly 34.2 - or that the PG is overly flooded with word games, say something about the poster above you', etc...Or both, of course.

All right. Sorry for the most boring post in the history of anything. Off to do something productive now. (It only took 10 minutes, mother, honestly...)

We respect the non-bumping rule here in the GB for the most part.

Miley Cyrus' bubble-gum pop music isn't my thing, but I thought she was great last night. I wish she'd do some R&B as she has the voice and range for it.

Anchoredinocean looked funny in the big white wig

Chevy Chase looks and sounds bad. I wonder if he has some health issues.

Bill Murray is the King of funny and seems to be in a good place where he can enjoy his life.

Jack Nicholson is cool.

Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David were funny.

And I don't care what you say, SNL from 75-85 were the best years.

Fifty Shades of Grey is a worldwide dominatrix, tying up the biggest international opening of all time for an R-rated film with $158 million from 58 markets.

In North America, the Universal title is poised to gross a record $90.7 million over the long Valentine's Day and Presidents Day weekend for a global debut of $248.7 million.

Every time I look at the news, the snow prediction for tonight goes up. I'm not looking any more!

It's up to 8" now. If it goes over a foot I may have to run out and buy a shovel.

He wasn't much of an entertainer last night.

It's like saying the ring is second nature to a boxer. There comes a point where you back out gracefully.
Just my opinion.

Slight change of subject, but I expect this is what we're going to see from David Letterman -- complete retirement. He's modeled himself after Johnny Carson as much as possible, and when Carson left the desk, he was basically never seen again.

It's easy to say these guys should all quit, but geez, the money for acts like the Stones boggles the mind -- hell, they were well past their prime when I saw them, and that was 26 years ago. Makes you admire those like Led Zeppelin and (on the opposite end of the spectrum) Abba who could have done nothing these last 30 years but played the oldies for the odd bank vault or two and instead said "Nope, not interested."

Why don't we ever talk about how weird it is that Mandy Patinkin's name is Mandy?

drinking coffee, and my mind is not quite functioning yet. i feel like i should apologize to laurel for bringing up search engines. i just thought maybe there was an article somewhere that mentioned up. that's not what i found. :(

i was hushed yesterday for talking about penis too loudly at the breakfast table. i don't know if that's supposed to explain it or not, but my filter ran away with the moon.

Ha! I thought about that once too, very Odd. I think it's a combo name Mary if a girl, Andy if a boy. The resulting compromise Mandy. At least his name isn't Sue Patinkin
