That's Dr. Sheldon Cooper, and whether he's the greatest tv character ever is a topic I'm sure he'd be happy to debate with you while wearing a look of haughty derision. What's not debatable, however, is his expertise in string theory and it's alter ego, M-theory.

His roles are kind of like parallel universes of Sheldon with different interests.

You get the picture. And I'm saying all of this as a big fan of Parsons. He's fucking adorable but not very versatile.

same mockumentary vein as the office but quite a different kettle of fish, addressing substance abuse,mental health and age/social problems. absolutely touching and tender in places, very sad, very funny, gentle - like the character. shows the people behind the ''issue'' they have. i think it shows ricky gervais' talents in a whole new light. i recommend all of the eps in all of the series.

not had a chance to watch all of these all the way through, thanks for posting them though. i'll try and make sooome time later. i still wonder if how he plays the roles is more about the producers/scriptwriters liking what he's done as sheldon and wanting to keep riding the gravy train. just look at john wayne - they had him playing virtually the same part in every damned film and yet was probabl capable of a far greater stretch. or maybe not. i dunno

It could absolutely be that. I'd have to watch a few interviews with him, which I haven't seen yet, to watch his mannerisms and speech pattern.

He seems to have the same mannerisms in every interview I've seen as his Sheldon character, at least to me.

Good actor...but as Garnate pointed out regarding Jim Parsons, Alan Alda is pretty one dimensional himself. Neurotic...and Preachy.
I've seen them all before! Granted, not on the first run, but when FX used to show them everyday when I was a youth. I've never had the opportunity to see them all in order, however. Keep combing though, that feels nice.
